Was all set to have a nice evening with the wife and we get a call at 3:00 from my daughters school saying she slipped and fell hurting her arm. Of course the same arm that she had to have surgery and pins in a few years back so figured better have it looked at. She sat through everything and never made a sound. Doctors, nurses, xrays and low and behold she has broken her wrist. None of then could believe that she sat so quietly through it all. They did the 0-10 pain test thing (bit silly for a 9 year old) and she said the pain was around a 2. Either she didn't understand the scale or she has the pain tolerance of a superhero.

Anyway, all is well and she is fine other than a cast and a trip to the ortho doctor in the morning to see what he thinks.

She is righted handed and of course that is the one she messed up so I guess she will have to wait to try out here new knife that she is getting for Christmas.

Sorry to hear about that Garth. Sounds like you have one tough daughter! Kids heal quick and come back stronger than ever. I broke my hand when I was the same age and didn't miss a beat.

Oh no Garth!!! I hope she's ok. I bet she'll be ready to go nuts on xmas day! I bet you guys got more of a fright than she did. She sounds like a little trooper! You're a lucky man Garth. :)

OH man, real sorry brother. I hope she recovers quickly and the pain level gets no higher than 2:thumbup:

Here's to the her using that new knife with her left hand;)

May it all be good on Christmas day:)

Sounds like a tough little girl. No fear, No regrets!

In all sincerety, hope she heals well, wishing all the best.

I broke my wrist a few years back. It did not hurt too much at that time either. But three or four days later ..... That's when I knew it was broke.

Sorry to hear, Garth. She was probably right about the pain or close. I broke my right humerus many years ago, and it wasn't the pain that convinced me I broke it, but the weird feeling of the arm lowering when I tried to raise it. Thought that I just dislocated the elbow or something. Only when the ER doc went to straighten it did the pain kick in, and the next 2 weeks sucked pretty badly on the hurt-o-meter. But the real "fun", being right handed for the most part, was learning to do everything with only the left... What a PITA! :)

I hope that she skips over the pain and gets right to healin' up quickly, brother.

Tough kid and tough business at Christmas mate... I ASSUME you WILL be giving her a new MOAB to cut the cast off with ..?? ;)

Sorry to hear that :( Glad she's going to be okay though

I fractured a few bones when I was younger and none of them phased me much, not even broken ones have hit me that hard. I'm sure I've broken/fractured bones and not had them looked at... She's probably just darn tough.

I thought I was until I had kidney stones...

Thanks everybody. She is a trooper and will be fine. Finally got her comfortable and asleep. Its been a long day and I believe I am gonna go get some sleep myself.

Garth

She'll be well soon. These Hobbits are tougher than you might think. Here's to a speedy recovery.
