Just ordered a GEC product in fixed blade form...

Is that the true color of the stag or did your camera wash it out? I love the blade shape for sure and the size looks good.

Yeah... picture may be a little subdued... but it's pretty close to actual look... And thanks, guys, for your comments and suggestions :-)

Well, I had to move some knives closer together in this display to make room for my new Tidioute fixed blade knife. It worked just fine, but it also opened up a new spot for another folder!... lol! Well, I'll take my time in deciding which one will be the one to fill that job ;-)

Looks good, I really love the blade profile.

Just curious: why is the handle mark on one side and the blade mark on the other? Is that common with fixed-blade knives?

Beautiful traditional fixed blade, and the handle looks great! That's my favorite style of all the ones I've seen. Did it come with a sheath (pic)?

Seems Gec is placing the trade name (Tidioute Cutlery) as a blade etching and the Titusville Iron Works on the tang on one side, and Tidioute on the tang and a Tidioute shield on the other... company preference, I think. My Utica Cutlery fixed blade is etched on the blade and tang marks on the same side (mark side, as they call it).

Looks real nice. You're building a very well rounded collection. I think you wound up with a superb deal when all said and done. It's hard to beat stag.

My sheath is identical to this one, but mine is a somewhat milk chocolate brown color, and no embelishment on the snap button (black). And yeah, all turned out well in the end. First it was them not having the one I ordered... then not having the replacement I would have chosen... then a two 2-3 day priority mail being stagnant somewhere and causing a 5 day shipping trip... but all's well that ends well. This stag handle is growing on me, and am glad I did go with it... but stag in my collection will likely remain limited... just ain't my thing, I guess. But all good on this latest addition. Thanks for the kudos, guys :-)

I know Bowie is kind'a a broad term and description for a knife... but this new Tidioute fixed blade knife does, imo, fit the Bowie knife profile.. but almost in miniature. This is a smallish knife.... just use those folders beside it to kinda judge for yourselves... Hence my considering it kinda cute... yes, I said cute! lol! ;-)

Looking good Jimmy! I really like the mix in that display - the hawk bill, Russlock - nice and varied patterns along with the nice mix of handle covers.

I have a bunch of knives I've been accumulating the past few months and hope to create a display as a winter project. Your displays have really helped in seeing what I want in my mind.

It is a good looking fixed blade. For reference though as that fixed blade was made before I got into GEC and haven't seen too many pics... what model number is that? H50? H60?

I am glad my ideas may help inspire your plans in some way, Stan :-) The above display includes a pocket watch my kids gave me a few years ago... and the idea came from seeing and reading a thread on this board pertaining to traditionial knives and pocket watches :-)

It's typical of its kind. Google cowboy bowie.

My making room in this display for the new fixed blade Tidioute, caused an extra spot for another knife to fit in. That situation already had me thinking about what I should aquire next to fill that spot. Well, I used my noggin and simply rearranged another display and caused an excess of one of it's knives (a Camillus Toothpick). Now, the toothpick completes this one. I got to thinking about how this display only houses American made knives (Case, GEC, Buck, Canal Street, Camillus, and Queen)... but China still gets it's way in by being where the display comes from, lol! ;-)
