I glad yours came that sharp. Mine was pretty dull, actually. Are you kidding when you say that your 1095 came as sharp as Bob's?I have both TAK's, D-2 and 1095. My RAT TAK in 1095 came razor sharp. Just as sharp as a lot of my Dozier was when they came. If anybody has bought a new Dozier they will know what I mean.
The TAK is 10.3 oz, the HR is 8.9 oz
I wouldn't try to persuade you to sell the TAK, it is a great knife when you consider the cost. The HRLM is no slouch, I would be happy with eitherTanks for the info!
I think about selling my TAK to replace it with a HRLM. But im not sure if the benefits of ergonomics, weight, blade size and steel (in a knife this size) really makes the difference .not forgetting the extra 100,- Euro!!!
Hey, Skunk...when you get your TAK, let me know how the grind is...When I got my TAK in D2, the grind was off, i.e., a steeper angle on one side than the other. Good luck with yours.
Good decision Skunk I was gonna get one myself but then the Dumpster mutt came up for sale on the Scrapyard so I went for that. I think the TAK is about the perfect size for an EDC, the RAT 3 is a little small as an all rounder and the RAT 5 is slightly too long overall (IMO).
I also agree with your pick of 1095 and no serrations.
Post some pics when it comes !!!!
I apologize to Skunk for the tangential hijack, but......... What is your overall impression of the Dumpster mutt?
Thanks pitdog but I want to get a RTAK II & a RAT-5 just for having sakeLOL ! + I prefer plain edge over serrated. Thanks again TD
I'm more likely to grab the HR, the handle feels better, more secure and comfortable for me, the blade length is perfect for my tasks, I don't miss the extra 1/2 inch of blade when I am using the HR, the overall balance compared to the TAK feels better. The TAK is handle heavy, the HR less so. The HR has a nice little thumb notch up on the spine, I find this feature very helpful for precision cutting. Edge holding is a little better than the 1095, sharpening it does not appear to be more difficult, but that may just be because I use the Edge-pro, it seems nothing is too hard to sharpen with that. I can get a razor sharp edge on the 1095 in no time, easier to sharpen in the field no doubt. I do like the TAK and readily assign it the real dirty beater chores. If I had to choose just one...HRSo how do these two knives compare? I have the HR so I know the handle fits me but what are your impressions on the blade length and steel?
