I've been re-covering traditional knives for a little while now, but this is my first attempt at making scales for a modern. This is a Rat II with oak scales. I only used oak because a had a bunch of very thin scraps from another project. The scales were cut with a laser engraver and hand sanded. They are a litter thinner than I would like, but I didn't have anything thicker. The screws are a little proud, but as a prototype it came out pretty good.

I'm working on a bocote version that should be done later today or tomorrow.

I reckon this probably isn't what LT Wright had in mind when they designed this knife, but I just made a "Midnight snack" (*at 0500 hours) for my nocturnal Alzheimer's "Patient"... (*my 80yo Mom)
