The police has better lines than the larger military imho.
Well, that's an interesting contention, a distinction that I'd never considered, but one that got me up and over to my knife repository to grab a Millie as my Pakkawood Police was next to me already. The Military is definitely chunkier--both thicker and broader of handle and thicker of blade. Interestingly, holding one knife right over the other (superimposing) they have almost identical profiles along the spine, both with the same arched line from butt to tip, though the Police is a tiny bit longer of handle and significantly longer of blade. That profile is one I favor in knives as it leaves room for one's fingers when drag cutting without having to lift the handle much if at all above a flat cutting surface. I like the way it looks too.
Along the bottom edge is where all the difference is. The Millie has a generous palm swell, shrinking toward the butt, with the handle then sharply swelling again into a pronounced downward pommel, terminating in a generously rounded butt. The Police is almost exactly opposite, thinning right after after the forefinger choil, swelling slightly towards the rear, then thinning a gain to a small radius, almost semi-circular butt.
At the business end both knives have straight, square-edge spines with the Police having that ever-so-slight, short drop to the tip. Along the cutting edge the Military has more curve to the blade and a much more pronounced belly. Overall, I think the Military is perhaps more versatile for general field use and more tactical with a surer grip for a soldier, while the Police is slimmer in pocket while longer as a general utility tool for law enforcement.
Back to the "better lines" thing, the Police is definitely sleeker looking and I like that as well as its longer blade. On the other hand, the Millie fits my old, beat up carpenter's hand better and more surely than the PoPo, and, while I've come to appreciate back locks over the years, I find the one on the Police a little far back, requiring a slightly awkward shift of hand to release. That said, I like the looks of and enjoy carrying both as much for their differences as for their similarities.
And just to stay on topic after that wall of text....
