Kickin it old school!

I bought that from Bud Nealy at the first ECCKS in the lare 80s, it was 1 of 7 of the only knives he brought with him. It was his first major show and he'd just decided to go full time, the # on the knife was 553, he's near 10K now I believe.. I bought it mainly because he was local and I got to see his shop. Great guy I stop in when I can. He always loves seein' the knife because of the time he could put into it back then. I also met AG Russell, (he cut himself and had to leave and get stitches while showing me how to open and close his K87 One Hand Framelock Folder ala Pat Crawford I'd just bought. He was a trooper and came right back). Also met this guy who normally sold sharpeners, he had this funny lookin' all stainless knife with a hump on the back and a hole in the blade. it even had a clip on it, a clip. Of all the dumb things. I bought a funny lookin' set of triangular crock sticks in a stand and the weird knife called "The Worker" it had a pocket clip... anyway his name was Sal G... something. apparently he had a good idea, I hear he's makin' a livin'. ;)

It's a compound ground Aikuchi with a hollow ground primary edge and a flat ground tip 3 1/2" Gun Blued O1 blade. Dovetailed bolsters hold black linen micarta down against a distally tapered tang. This is fast and intuitive. I ground the the thumb index notch my self, because I needed to know edge orientation at all times and I figured it was the best solution. I saw Bud at a local show a few moths ago, he was gettin' ready for the SHOT show. I stopped at his table and we shot the bull for a while. Everytime he saw someone he knew he'd call em over to show em the knife. He woulda bought it back if I woulda sold it to him.

This is the only knife I carry as a last ditch knife. I have kept it on me in one carry method or another every day since I bought it as you can see by all the wear(he's made me a couple of different Kydex sheaths for it over the years givin' me a bunch of ways with his MCS (Multi Concealment Sheath) system. I would trust my life to it, I've even split kindlin' with it (don't tell Bud :o ) Yea it's that good.

So I just got the CKF Salbya and my head nearly exploded due to how unrelentingly awesome it is. It's a blem, bought it at their "Garage Sale", so the price was only a quarter of what it should've been. The only issue I noticed with it is that it's very stiff to open, everything else is perfect. Really impressed with it so far. Forgive the lousy picture, could not contain my excitement long enough to get a real camera.

That would be great for dressing and skinning.
