It's 1:33 am, off to the airport at 4am for a 7am flight to Atl.
Sharing a room with three buddies all 30 years younger than me and very savvy when it comes to 'customs'.
My first time going to Blade.
Wonder what I'll come back with.
Blade show

Saw the Avispa at Blade, should've snagged one. How do you like it? Reminds me of a Rat 1.
Beautiful knife, great fit and finish, very sharp right out of the box, perfectly centered blade.
Love the geometry of the blade better than Rat1, compared to Rat1 the Avispa is thinner and slightly less wider, blade and length of the handle are almost identical. Thicker blade at the secondary grind, very smooth action, very nice lock-up.
It is basically Rat1 size and shape of the handle with clip point blade and frame lock.

My only problem with it is that I don't like tip down carry but when I move the clip to the position for right hand, tip up carry it pushes directly on the spring, not on the frame...
Look at the bottom picture, you'll se a gap between the clip and the frame... It shouldn't be like this, I believe they should fix this, simple repositioning of two of the bottom holes will fix it,
a wider clip will fix the already released knives I guess but I don't know if they registering this problem yet...

Otherwise the knife worth every penny, love it and the small Zancudo too...

Here is a big size picture comparing it with Rat 1, I'm only posting the link, otherwise could be too heavy to load in the thread: http://imageshack.com/a/img849/2875/81f0.jpg

Very thorough response, thanks. Very interesting about the clip position too, hopefully that will get worked out. Im surprised I havnt seen more about this knife, seems like a winner.

I can't speak for others, but the fact that the handle is a direct copy in shape from the Rat 1 was a turnoff. I wanted them to make a larger Zancudo, not put a somewhat Zancudo blade into a RAT 1 handle. I mean, I understand that the same people in Taiwan are making both knives, but did we need a direct copy?

So, I won't be buying any of the Avispas, unless they release one that has a large Zancudo handle. Then we'll be getting somewhere!
