Just received my first ever spyderco, a paramilitary 2 in S30V

The Para2 is by far my favorite Spydie. I also love Benchmade, but for different reasons and I feel like I can thump a little harder on the Para.

I Love The Para2, I'm Back To Owning One.. But That's Because The One Went For A Sage2!! I Am So Excited About It And I Absolutely Love This Knife. A Lot, A Lot, A Lot. =]]

I used to hate hearing about Spyderco this and Spyderco that and swore to myself I'd never drink the Koolaid. I was a Benchmade man all the way (and its still my favorite knife maker). I did need a salt water knife though and ended up giving in and buying an H1. The fit and finish on it were very unacceptable. the blade was off center and very loose but the worst thing about it was the HORRIBLE edge grind, it looked like a 5 year old did it. I still like the knife for its blade steel but it really chapped my ass. Not even 3 weeks later, I got a weird hair and some extra cash and sprung for a Para2... regretted it the entire time it was shipping. BUT... when it came in an I opened the box and started tinkering with it I was blown away by the fit and finish and instantly became a Spyderco fan... that Koolaid is mighty tasty! It is now my favorite knife. There are quality control issues with most anything and maybe that's what happened with yours. Its at the very least, worth calling them to inquire about. I'm sure they would be more than happy to fix anything you weren't pleased with. Now that I have my Para2 I'm gonna send the H1 back for repair and give her another go. I'm sorry to hear about your poor experience... but don't be too quick to judge after one poor (or seemingly poor) example.

*edit* Sorry, posted ahead of myself... just read that you enjoy it now. That'll teach me to post before i read the entire thread :p

I did and there was very little locktite under the factory clip side which was also a bit too loose.

The knife is fine now and I'm ok with the purchase.

Glad to hear you are happy with the money invested now. It really is a great knife for the dollar spent on it.

Don't let this forum overhype you on a purchase. Still gotta make sure screws are tightened to your specs ;)

Sent from my HTC Sensation

I have yet to buy a knife that I didn't have to tinker with just a little bit to get to my liking (I don't have customs). I do have to say, my para2 needed a tightening and now it is perfect.

Minnesota...No need to worry. Spyderco wouldn't have made it as far as they have if bencher's experience were the norm. The vast majority of knives you'll get from Spyderco are excellent.

That having been said, I don't get why bencher doesn't just send it back and get a new one if he's not satisfied rather than open a beef thread in here.

Don't sweat it, Minnesotapride88. Every Spydie I have purchased has been stellar!

You guys were right, I even went ahead and got myself a Delica. I think I'm in love :p

Bencher,
think your gonna hold onto the para2 or sell it? there are people here that would take it off your hands for a good price. What color did you say it was again?
