Just saw this.....Bark River is no more?

Also that requires believing Mike that Jim new nothing. Besides the history of lies, there's the fact he's trying to save the company for his son. Hard to put much trust in that. I wouldn't throw my dollars that way
Well, here's the thing.....Mikes name doesn't seem to be on anything..
Stewart Knives LLC was created in 2008 by MS and Lesley Stewart. Lesley was sole principal of record. However, a few weeks ago a DBA document was filed to change the name back to Bark River Knives, with Jim and Lesley Stuart being the signatories. Stewarts nowhere to be found...

There is also a pending lawsuit for $356,779.76 plus interest, costs, and disbursements.

and another filed Friday with Lesley named as defendant

He should try reading the most basic information about what is required for “Made in USA”:

What is the standard for a product to be called Made in USA without qualification?
For a product to be called Made in USA, or claimed to be of domestic origin without qualifications or limits on the claim, the product must be “all or virtually all” made in the U.S. The term “United States” as referred to in the Made in USA Policy Statement and the Labeling Rule, includes the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories and possessions.

What does “all or virtually all” mean?
“All or virtually all” means that the final assembly or processing of the product occurs in the United States, all significant processing that goes into the product occurs in the United States, and all or virtually all ingredients or components of the product are made and sourced in the United States. That is, the product should contain no — or negligible — foreign content.

I agree with you Larrin, at this stage Mr. Stewart is attempting to save face. His claim is false, with the bulk of the material being imported it would not meet the standards for made in USA.

I hate when someone screwed up and issues an apology while trying to justify it and downplay it at the same time.

Buying chineseium and saying it is the same thing and made in the USA is such a load of BS. Similar or not, it wasn't what the customer thought they were paying hundreds for, is blatant deception, and still from China.

I'm not sad to see him out of the knife industry, but this really sucks for alot of people.

So he admits to using Chinese made steel and how that was wrong but them proceeds to try and sugar coat it by saying that the Chinese steel was comparable. Bro seriously!? Then to act as if there was some kind of justification because the employees put work into the China blanks is crazy work. I can spray paint a dog turd gold but its still a dog turd. Its next to impossible to believe anything this man says and the fact that he wants to act like his son and the employees have no blame Is crazy to me. You can't convince me that the son had no idea or the employees either for that matter. They all participated and no one blew the whistle until the customers had already been deceived. I have no empathy for anyone who would go along with the deception. Just my 2cents. Right, wrong or indifferent.

Also I think its a bit of a window licking action to announce the sons new buisness venture in the same post admitting to the deception of the father's company. Again, the son knew and was complicit. So as far as im concerned, if you spend your money with the son you're not learning anything from this mess. As they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. They also say, dont punish the son for the actions of the father...but I dont think they spoke of a son complicit in deception along side the father.

Mike, isn't doing this because he had a change of heart. He'll own up to only what he's caught for, guaranteed. Jim, if he has any chance of doing his own thing needs to start by addressing all the incorrect steel issues that predates this new whole debacle. Pretending all the issues that have been happening for years did not happen, is in itself a lie and shows dishonesty.

If I had been drinking something when I read that sentence, I would have spit it out. Talk about a complete asshat. Even now he's trying to minimize his lies.
I'm glad I listened to other members when they warned me away from buying anything associated with Mike Stewart.

But they tested it! It's even better than CPM 154! Plus, they put all their hard work into making it a Bark River!

Additionally, Jim is going to have to overcome a TON of (warranted) scrutiny. Would not be surprised if that endeavor never gains traction.
According to his IG page he was the Production and Operations Manager at BR… gonna be hard to convince people that he wasn’t aware of what was taking place in some capacity.
