Just saw this new CSC Boy's Knife...

...and am seriously considering getting one. It's a little small at just under 3.5 inches, but I like the idea of stainless and G10 on a traditional knife. Anyone own one of these? I have a few GECs but nothing from Canal Street. I'd really like to find a CSC barlow with the Jade scales, but that seems to be a lost cause. :)

Cannot go wrong with CSC. That thing looks great. No doubt the quality will be there. Buy with confidence!

There is a message on KnifeWorks website that says Canal Street is going out of business. Is that true?

Knifeworks is the only site that I can find indicating that CSC is closing. I find it difficult to believe that there would not have been some more discussion here in traditional's if that were the case. I certainly hope it is a mistake.

Edit: I just got off of the phone with CSC and they said that they are not going out of business. He then asked if I was on bladeforums to which I replied, yes. He said that CSC is selling off some equipment but they are still making knives. As a matter of fact, I could barely hear him over the sound of knives being made in the background :)

I shot CSC an email to find out. I'll report back if I hear anything.

EDIT: Just saw the message above. WHEW!

Reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated.

I'm getting one of them boys knives to show my support.

So the image changed since this morning! I really liked it with the engraved bolster and don't like the coin in the handle material. Very strange. I can't stand mixed metals (silver bolster with any other non-silver metal shield) on a knife.

I just got off the phone earlier with whoever is in charge on the line and it was a pretty discourteous/rude/alienating phone call.
Perhaps it was due to the influx of messages about the Knifeworks banner but I can assure you they are not going out of business.

I can also assure you I will not be purchasing a CSC.

It really is, I will give leeway to the fact that their phone may have been ringing in regards to this matter of knifeworks posting up a fake title which could cause some heat.
But it isn't costing them business. On the contrary, by the posts in this thread it seems like they've drummed up some sales.

However, the remarks were just off.

This is based on the Eric's Jack pattern that came out as a limited order in 2014 with stag handles. That had no shield, and this knife, if it does appear, would most certainly look a lot better without that coin, really spoils the handle in my view.

It seems odd, if not highly irresponsible, that a knife seller is stating in Red letters that CS is going out of business and there will be no more knives. If I were CS and this is untrue, I would be enraged by such talk.

Shields don't get me going too much one way or the other; but I sure wish they would match the color to the rest of the knife. If you have NS bolsters, a silver shield would look much better IMO.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a lot of folks coming out with a competitor for the GEC #15 Boys knife and Barlow? Bill must be proud that these things keep showing up that do not appear to be more than 1/16" difference in frames.

I've had the same experience when calling CSC. Long before any rumors of their business closing. Just a simple inquiry. And this happened more than once.

I had a similar experience with GEC the first time I called. It did seems as though I reached someone down in the factory though as it was noisy. I chalked it up to the individual not really being able to hear me. The next call I made I got Chris and it has been awesome every time after that!

I made on inquiry call to CSC a few months back and they were def not warm and fuzzy. Not rude......just not overly nice.

I wouldn't allow this one experience to rule CSC out from your future purchases! They make a great American product and should not be represented by one employee who may have been having an off day. Heck, he/she could be disgruntled for one reason or another. I'd say if you continue to get the same service rule them out by all means. Give them a try!
