Canal Street Cutlery is a small business, a fraction of the size of GEC, which itself is not big. Just about all the employees work on making knives. There is no "repair department" for example. I have been told that when a knife is returned for repair, the guy who worked making that knife is usually the one expected to fix it, but still has all his regular work to do.
Phone calls can take someone away from doing their work. A bunch of phone calls is very disruptive so it is understandable that frustration develops.
I think everyone at CSC works 'flat out' trying their best to make a fine knife & successful business. They deserve our support and understanding. Remember, these are Schrade USA people who instead of being defeated by the closure of Schrade, started their own company, Canal Street Cutlery, dedicated to making fine USA Traditional style knives.
How about making a CSC the next knife you buy.

Has anyone called Knifeworks to ask why they have that message posted on their site?
Also, I hope the folks at Canal Street aren't cranky because they aren't happy to be making this year's forum knives.
My reasoning for commenting was due to what seemed like a veiled rub towards us forum guys/alienating a big part of the knife buying group rather than myself being insulted solely.
My phone call went like this
I called up and asked the man politely whether they were closing since I had seen a remark on knifeworks and on the forums.
"If someone else brings that up again Im going to punch them in the face."
I apologised several times for what I realised was a touchy subject and and tried to help him find the site page in particular since he couldn't find it and but he seemed readily pissed that it was posted and forum guys had started calling about it. (Which struck me as odd considering this only puts their name on the map in media and us calling solidifies concern we have for a knife company that was 'supposedly closing.')
I told him I would write on the forum to clarify that they were under no means closing down.
He then felt it necessary to mention that "us forum guys are frustrating as hell."
'I don't get you all' and that "we lead a different lifestyle than others." (I'm not sure what that was supposed to imply) #knifelife
I'm a big fan of the ka bar coppersmith line and my statement saying I wouldn't buy another CSC may have been rather exaggerated.
Or _____ We should be grateful for all the attention to detail and real care that CSC people put into the knife that many of us will soon receive.
Give the guy a break ! It's immature to take something like this minor exchange personally. If you don't take it personally, you realize it's just the other guy being himself and then your knickers aren't in a twist.

...and am seriously considering getting one. It's a little small at just under 3.5 inches, but I like the idea of stainless and G10 on a traditional knife. Anyone own one of these? I have a few GECs but nothing from Canal Street. I'd really like to find a CSC barlow with the Jade scales, but that seems to be a lost cause.
