While reading about someone here the other day picking up a new ZT from a local vendor the other day. It dawned on me I had not check their web site in awhile, so I decided to take a look and found this. Very excited I absolutely love this knife, overall good day took my mother to lunch and picked up a Shirogorov F3, single bearing row, ELMAX blade, G10

LOL...Awesome! I've checked out all of the Shiros there and I plan to add one to my collection soon. I think I've held that very knife. It's really sweet! Such smooth action. Enjoy.

I was born and raised in the SF Valley and my home in Calabasas is in the hills just outside of the south/west corner of the valley.
I bought my first knife ever at Knife Trader in the SF Valley and my first Spyderco was a Delica I bought in 1991 from none other than Recon 1 when they were just a booth at the Valley Indoor Swapmeet.

Congrats on the F3, its a beauty!!!

Local SFV guy here as well, transplanted to Pasadena a couple years ago......

A Sherman Oaks area local here with a kid going to school in Calabasas. (Lots of driving back & forth between the two. Gotta love that 101.)

Small world.

Now I'm curious if we cross paths.. My son is the catcher for Agoura HS Baseball so if your kid plays baseball and is high school age we would have crossed paths for sure. As well, if your kid is elementary school age in Calabasas, my wife is a teacher at Calabash Elementary and she would most likely know him or her.

Glad to hear I'm not the only knife enthusiast in the neighborhood!

I think we're close but no path-crossing as of yet. My son goes to Calabasas High (a sophomore), no baseball but a 15 year old, 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and recently got hired (first part time job ever) at his dojo as a sensei (teacher). But I agree, good to know of another local knife nut! Got the bug so bad (as of late), have begun to do some knife vids! Here's but one (if at all interested)...https://youtu.be/7r-uvvcP1Bg (I do cover a bit about a Shirogorov in this one.)

I have no discipline, had to run an errand in the area, stopped in the store and a new Shiro Hati followed me home, even on washers these are so smooth. Stopping at two until I sell something else
Also grew up in the West Valley and now live live in the East valley,
Shirogorov Hati, G10 and Titanium frame lock scales, washers, M390 Full flat ground blade

Very nice!...but...Dammit! ;) I had my eye on that one. They're selling fast. 4 days ago they had 7 in stock, today I was in there visiting Tamar and Sako and they only had 3.
Those are a couple of beauties you've added this week.

Very nice! Is that the Custom Division they had? Or a regular, mid tech Hati? ---> So fellow local knife nuts...What are Recon 1's prices like on Shirogorovs? I recall they want about $2500 on the Custom Division Hati of theirs I saw. Don't know their pricing on regular Hati(s) 95 T's, F3's. Do you recall? Asking you guys is easier than driving down to take a look at their price tags.

Their Custom Division Hati (that I saw/tried out) was at their booth at the Pasadena knife show a couple months ago. I know they've had that one for a while, slowly dropping their price on it over time. Their price on the Hati's on washers isn't bad. All the Shiros I own are on bearings except for one 111, on washers...and it's quite smooth, not bearing smooth but has broken in nicely and is quite nice for a knife on washers. I think the smoothest knife (pivot action) I own on washers is, believe it or not, a model 4401x Kizer! ($161 on Amazon!) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3xswudBtAs - It comes the closest to (simulating) the incredible smoothness of bearings. Maybe I lucked out and have an aberration but man, this one is incredibly smooth. -- Thanks, LS99, for the Recon 1 info & link.

This is a regular Hati , the custom division one I saw was about 1995, they had 3 of the regular Hatis this morning but it looks they are all gone now.

Just FYI the price tags at Recon 1 are msrp and not the reference you want anyway. Check the website for the actual prices before you visit so you know what to expect. http://www.recon1.com/shop/

Ohhhh so jealous! How's the edge on that elmax?

I don't know about his, but my hati and f95 (both Elmax) both have the most impressive steel I've ever experienced. Shirogorovs have the Elmax heat treat down for sure.

Sweet score there! I have not been to Recon 1 in quite while. Life long "valley dude" myself :)
