Just scored

It's funny as soon as I saw this post I already knew it was a valley guy who had walked into Recon1....love that place. Love your Shiros too, congrats!

I have to be careful walking into that store...pretty much guaranteed to buy something every time I walk in...it's terrible!

Living in Santa Monica right now, but born and raised in the SFV....Nice to see some locals around here ;)

Congrats on the F3 Scrim!!
Thanks, Man. You talking about the one I recently sold...or the one in my "Smooth" vid? Just picked up another slick & beautiful 95T recently too. Dude, haven't seen YOU around here for a while. You been slumming on USN?! (joke) -- Interestingly, I've had over a dozen Shiros in my collection and have physically handled dozens. The one cf F3 in the "Smooth" video is THE smoothest Shiro I've ever handled, including the few Custom Divisions I've handled. That one is something special. And as a mid tech, I don't know why it would be so much better than the average great Shiro, but it is. I can't imagine ever parting with that one. It's just one of those things you have to feel and compare side by side. -- You still loving the A2A3 with orange G10 inlays you recently scored? Hope so. She's a beauty. If you get bored & want to trade, let me know. Andre Van Heerden followed through and made & me a new pocket clip for one of my A2A3's that had scratches on it's original clip. It was the one I actually carried once in a while because it wasn't 100% perfect. Now it's just about perfect again...so I don't know WHAT to do with it...carry it and potentially make it potentially imperfect again? Good God, no!?! Hmmm, 1st world problems I guess.

To all the local, SF Valley (and surrounding area) knife nuts. Maybe...someday...a local, knife-nut meeting needs to take place, for show & tell, buying, selling, trading purposes?...and just for fun. Just tossing the concept out there.

I think it is actually Landshark's F3. Thought it was yours but I type faster than so think sometimes :). I haven't been carrying the A2/A3. Just carry other stuff. I am thinking of selling or trading maybe. If you are interested let me know.

I love this idea man! Would be great to get together and show each other our knives and gear, maybe make a deal or two in the process ;)

Perhaps some kind of a pot-luck while we're at it?

Could be a great time...

I'm happy to help organize.

Sadly my condo isn't large enough to host an event like this location, otherwise I'd say you all can come here :)

Do you have any ideas on a location ? Either a home with a back yard or a public space we could occupy for a few hours....open to ideas

What do you say guys? Bladeforums SFV/LA area get together?

Meeting at a low key restaurant might be cool for the first get together, eh?

Wow..you beat me to it! I was thinking of suggesting the same thing. I'm down.

So far in just this thread there's:
Landshark99
Scrim
Poolhustler
tknife
hookahabib
& myself we've identified as "Valley guys" (not a big fan of that title...just sayin').

If you guys are down for knife meeting, we should start a new thread calling all SVF knife nuts and see how many we come up with. We can coordinate a meeting through that thread as well.
Sako at Recon 1 might see a meeting like this as something he wants to participate in as well (business aside, he and Tamar are SFV knife nuts too). If we get enough people interested I would be happy to help coordinate a time and place.

Let me know what you think..

Chad

Right on Chad! Good call on Sako and Tamar....they could be into it.

A lot of my time on bladeforums is spent in the Busse forum. I know there are some local guys there - I'll post there and see if any of them are interested and let you know how that goes.

This could be really cool...let's make it happen :)

I plan to visit Sako and Tamar on Thursday or Friday when I pick up my ZT0392. I will see if they'd be interested while I'm there.

As for a location, if the west side of the valley works for everyone??, I would suggest the Sagebrush Cantina (mon-thurs when it's not busy). We can reserve an outdoor area with a bunch of tables to ourselves. The atmosphere is laid-back...sawdust on the floors...chips and salsa, beer, music, food if we want it. I think it could work..

I'd be down for a meet up! In the process of moving, but I'll still wind up somewhere in the Valley :)

Good call on Sagebrush Cantina...that's a great place to hang out. Between that and potentially Recon1, I'd say we have some good options.

I made a post in the Busse forum to gauge interest there.

About when should we shoot for this? Any preferences or thoughts about the ideal timing?

Congrats on the ZT0392 BTW  [emoji106]

This is sounding (and looking) better & better. I'd request a mid week evening (after rush hour)...or an off time on a weekend day (so it's not too crowded) at least a couple of weeks out. I'm about to do some business travel for the next week and would hate to miss it! -Gregg

I would also prefer mid-week and evening. Plus, that's about the only time we could go to the Cantina when it's not crowded.
I too will be traveling next week...as I travel a few days every other week.

I'd like to float the possibility of June 9th, 10th or 11th? About a month from now.

We have no decent knife shops in Fresno, CA.

:(

Damn Charlie Mike..that blows! If you like Spyderco, Benchmade, ZT, Hinderer, Shirgorov, and custom knives you should visit Recon 1 the next time your down in our area. I can't tell you how valuable it is to me to be able to hold knives before I buy.

Not gonna happen. I rarely go more than 10 miles from my home.

Hey guys...do me a favor please..? If you are interested in doing a knife meeting, please say so on the new thread I started in General titled "Calling all SFV knife nuts" I think if a couple of you say you're in it will help encourage those that have not been involved in our conversation here to join us. Now I'm curious just how many of us there are in the SFV..
