Just starting on first knife

True Iron wood can't be stabilzed.
Its too oily to start wth and doesn't need it anyway.

Ironwood grain will pop out as it oxides. Providing you have a piece with lots of pop to start with.
Some do a super glue saturation and handsand again.
 
Remember to measure out and drill your pin holes and any larger ones to lighten the grip tang area.

You want to have all of that done before you start bevel grinding.
