Just went shooting and blew lots of cash!

She had really nice form. :D Was it me or was the guy filming it focusing on her butt and not the most important thing, her shooting?

Mike

That's why it's important to have p. poppers at the range. The audibile cue allows you to confirm a hit, whilst focusing on the shooters "technique" :D

I had such a good time shooting Saturday that I took a lady friend (non girl friend friend) out shooting Monday after work. We traided off shooting my Ruger Single 6. She loved shooting the .22 WMR, thought they were lots funner then the standard .22 LR. LOL!! She wanted to go back Tuesday but I was busy.

After shooting we went to Sportsmans and checked out the guns again, some Inova flashlights and socks. Got some nice Merlin (I think thats how the names spelt) wool socks to go with my hiking shoes. They are so much nicer then the Cotton socks I've been using this winter.

The Leather holster I picked up Saturday is actually for a Ruger Blackhawk sized pistol. But the Single 6 still works pretty good. I thought it was kind of cool cause this summer I would love to get the Blackhawk Convertible in .357 MAG/9mm Luger. :D

Thanks to everyone with insites into the Walther P22... I think I'll hold off getting one for now. The grip works okay for me, but I'd like to hear better reports from friends before I shell out the cash.

Question, does anyone have any shooting experience with the SIG Misquito? I've handled it 4 to 5 times now and rather like it... Feels great in the hand and seems to have plety of goodies for it. It retails for around $410 and thats about $140 more then I can get the Ruger Mark III 22/45 for. Whatcha think of the gun? Especially reliability wise?

Thanks,

Heber

i was actually gonna bring up the sig in my previous post. i hear the same complaint about it as the walther, yet the owners still like it. logo infatuation. i'd go for a ruger, bersa, or cz kadet. p22 seems to get good reviews now, i really think they ironed it out.

What forums would be good to get gun reviews and such from? I'd love to hear more about the SIG and Walther. Both are more modern designs which strangely enough is what draws me to them.... I've wanted a modern looking .22 pistol. Though the jamming issues you guys mentioned have me concerned.

The Ruger being less expencive and more reliable sounds better right now. Anyone know what ammo was used in the guns that jammed? Maybe those two pistols are picky which doesn't worry me. But if it's any round they jam with, thats a big problem.

Anyone know of a 1911 style .22LR pistol? And I'm not talking about a kit to modify a current one. I'm intersted in seeing one from the factory in .22LR. Thanks,

Heber

Kimber makes .22's in a 1911 format. I think they're overpriced though ($600+). My grandfather has one, he got it as a gift. It shoots well, but doesn't impress me any better than the Ruger I bought for $220. The Ruger 22/45 series is set up to mimic the feel of a 1911; it has the same grip angle and size. It's a reasonably good practice platform, it helped me improve my .45 shooting on the cheap. Check out www.thehighroad.org for more reviews, just be prepared to wade through some less-than-helpful posts to find the good ones.

I've had a SIG Mosquito for about a year. As it is "breaking in", read: @750 rounds, it is getting more reliable. It likes CCI Standard Velocity best, so far. Reliability, I give it a "B". The first couple hundred rounds was getting to be a bummer, but since then it has really settled down. Maybe 4 misfires in the last 500 rounds. How many small semi auto .22 pistols do better?
Accurate, not like a S&W mod. 41, but field accurate. A natural pointer.
Others on the Net view it differently. I think the Red Dot on a rail is pretty rightous. I got the gun in a larger trade of goods, so I can't say I how feel about its cost in cash money, but I'm real happy with it with deal I made.
Hope this is useful:) .

Thanks Raghorn. Was thinking "What the heck is this?" That link works better. :)

Abaniko, thanks for the report. It's great to get field reports. My revolver took 525 to 700 rounds to break in. Am betting that breaking in a Semi Auto is different but simmaler. Thanks again.

Wildman, I've read about some of the Ruger .22s being an absolute PITA to disassemble and REassemble. If you end up going with a Ruger, you might consider going through the dis/reassembly steps with the people at the gun shop.

that's a good idea. i've had trouble with a friend's. sometimes it just seems to reassemble itself, other times it just won't cooperate.

Particularly when one considers that the instructions that come with the weapon are incorrect -- at least, last year they were. The magazine safety adds needless complication to the procedure.

It's not that bad. There's a trick to it and it usually takes a few tries to get everything right, but things get easier with practice and a proper field strip is seldom necessary. Punching the bore and hosing out the action with brake cleaner works adequately for me.
