Are you referring to the jute or to the design? If you're referring to the design it is the same as this commercial trap. In fact the plans for it came from one of their books. As far as the jute goes, it's relatively as strong as most cordages you would make from plant material.

Thanks DeadeyeLefty and longbow it's not really a correction - there may be some treated jute that doesn't burn well. Purdy? Not really, but it's not that bad a smell or else maybe I'm used to it because of all the stuff I've made with it.
