K390 vs Maxamet

Maxamet patinas VERY quickly.
Pete over at Cedric and Ada did some testing and I think K390 came just slightly below Maxamet (but like he said, hes just one guy). But, his favorite is his Police 4 in K390, so that's telling.
Edit: sorry I meant to say cutting test.

As for the rods, I bought a set of diamonds from Amazon and one of them lost the "diamonds" very very quickly; maybe it was defective? I eventually bought the CBN ones from knifecenter and have been using them for a year now, no issues.

I read somewhere 20CV and 3V were hard to maintain? I havent had issues with those with the sharpmaker. I have a paramilitary 3 in Maxamet and I maintain it so it doesnt get too dull. I heard Maxamet is brittle since it's so hard so opted for the shorter blade.

Thanks for reading

I have a Maxamet PM2 that I've been beating on for a couple weeks. It has yet to really need a touch-up but I've run it through the brown rods on my SharpMaker just to see how it responds. Still crazy sharp with the light touch-up. My plan is to not let the PM2 move into being dull so I won't have to do any serious sharpening. I also have a new Canis in S30V which has already needed one touch-up this week but once again I'm still sticking with the medium grit brown rods for pretty much all my knives. I do have a new set of diamond rods to play with in the future but overall if a knife needs real work then I have either my Gen3 WE or I can always break out my water stones and do it free hand.
