Thanks for posting all the wonderfull pictures guys. Some great looking knives and interesting history.

Great threads need a bump now and then plus I could use a few numbers added to my count for a certain little project I have going on. Hope nobody minds :)

Posted this with BRL for info, but it seems like a good "bumper" to bring this thread up from its slumber. Hefty at 4 3/16" long, it's in remarkable shape, I think.
Love this thread, but don't have many Ka-Bars;

Knifehead, what a terrific thread you started and all the great imput from others. I live for this stuff. We all have a passion for knives, I know mine is with old Slipjoints. I've collected old slippies since I was seven, got the bug from my grandmother of all people

May the Folksy be with all of you!!!

Good old Ka-Bars are few and far between so it's time to wake up this thread. ;)

This knife has probably been posted before but Tony just got it and I wanted to shoot some new pix. The locking mechanism on this folding hunter is unique in that the swing-guard is the lock. This design proved to be problematic and would eventually fail with use so these weren't made for very long. If by some slim chance you find one, chances are it won't stay locked.

This particular knife is in extremely good condition. The lock is solid and the blade looks as if it has never been used.

What a stunning piece :thumbup:
Fascinating concept on that swing guard...thanx for sharing"..

Great thread Kerry. I too like the old KA-BAR "bullet" best, but you're familiar with my obsession with that pattern. Thanks for sharing!

I planned this one to post in the old knives thread, but after reading through this this thread it seemed like a good place to post it first. Condition can't match the knives already posted here, but the tang marks would seem to date it as pretty old. Interesting pattern, a shadow pearl congress whittler. Blades are down some and it was probably cleaned on it's way to me. Charles

Unforunately I no longer have any KA-BAR knives but thanks for sharing this rich knife history guys! To me this is the best KA-BAR thread yet! Greg is that an Tidoute Elephant Toe or Baby Sunfish?

Oh great horned toads, Kerry!

I was going to say that if you wanted to see excitement then you needed to drop that chopper in to the mail to my address and have someone film me opening it. Then I see this thread originated in 2008!

Still great knives though. Makes me wonder how effective the first chopper shown was in actual use.

I don't know anyone that ever used one to chop down a tree or cut a limb but they are just cool.
