KA-BAR Big Trickle

I have really enjoyed this thread. For me, as a youngster and young adult, I didn't realize KaBar made anything but the Marine Corp fighting knife. I had one as a young man; don't know what happened to it. When I saw this old jack on the auction site, I was immediately drawn to it. It was the subject of a thread I started last year as I worked on it to work out the grinder marks in the blade. It had seen hard use and the grinder abuse, but I really like it.

This is what it looked like when I got it:

Here it is in present condition with a gunstock that Wilgoy sent me last year.

Here's the bone version of the pattern Kerry posted in #49. Of course, my pictures aren't as good.

Oh Mike!!! that's a beautiful knife Sir- my goodness!!
Lovely knives on this Thread - In my opinion Ka-Bar knives are awesome - just fantastic..heres a wee kit - not too old, but interesting that I picked up the other day, I find this set to be made exceptionally well - as most Ka-Bars are - the scales are a Black Composite - and very interestingly enough the bail that you see standing up in the last photo is the actual lock release for the Marlin Spike - its the first ever Spike I have owned that locks up - and boy..does it lock up SOLIDLY!!!
An amazing package-especially with the Ka -Bar stamped Pliers with the Wrench incorporated on the handle - very cool!!

My apologies for the terribly blurry photos - they do this knife NO justice - I didn't realise I had the camera on a wrong setting before it was too late-and haven't had time to gather new photos.

Thanks Duncan.

That's quite the tool set you have there. I'm not up on all of the variations of Ka-Bar knives. I used to just think of the fixed blades.

Nice! I really like the jigging on the 4 on the right. Reminds me of knapped obsidian. And those scout knives, now I understand why GEC calls the Beerscouts a "scout" knife. Always learning new stuff and now I know the "scout" jackknife has historical significance.

Thank you, I'm a big fan of Union Cutlery jigging. Not much pocket wear on the 4 you mention. I imagine they all had similar definition in their day. Maybe not the congress, would be cool if it did.
