Is it blade length restriction? I'm confused by this.

btw if frickin sucks. Another reason to leave CA.

Its because with the serrations on the top, it qualifies as a "double edged knife" therefore specifically spelled out as an illegal blade in the great state of Kalifornia. Can't have daggers dirks, or anything with a double edge.

I know how you feel, I don't like visiting Cali, unless its to meet up with some friends.

I was thinking it had to do with shipping across an international border or something..... You know communist country and all...

Just kidding but that really sucks.

Good call. It might not have the correct "papers" to travel across international borders. Kommifornia, is like another planet, not just another country.

For those of you in Cali, don't take offense, I treat Ohio in the same manner. :D

How rude! I treat TN with respect when I visit there! Or do I...

As far as California, I have family there, but they always want us to visit them, not them visit us. That is the only reason I never see them. I try to avoid California at all costs.

Bleh, our knife laws aren't so bad.

Auto's and double edged knives are restricted.........but there is no limit on folders. I can carry any length folder I want and fixed blades need to be open carried.

The gun laws on the other hand, suck
Thank God, I got some pre-ban

Eh, I carry like I usually do, here in TN when I'm in Cali. Never had a problem. Someone told me carrying a fixed blade is a no-no. I did, the last 3 times I was there, and I wasn't tackled to the ground by SWAT.

Weird, weird place man. Cool people though. :D

That was quick, thanks for the info guys.

Don't even get me started, I'll need my own sub-forum. I'm really considering a move to either Texas or Florida- no state income tax. CA steals 10% of my income and then promotes everything I'm against. Feeling my blood boil! Democraps outnumber repube-icans 2 to 1 in our state assembly, that's the reason for our stupid laws regarding knives, guns, smoking, entitlements, etc...

You guys need to get your facts straight on California's knife laws and leave the blind hate behind.

I don't think there are any restrictions on double edged blades in California. Nor is there a blade length restriction. You can carry any sized fixed blade in California as long as it is carried openly.

Whatever the reason you can't get the knife, it's not California state law that's in your way.

Yeah, we can open carry fixed here, no problem.

Hell, I can carry a 16" folding Cold Steel Espada XL if I want.

But if you have an auto over 2", you go to jail. Doesn't make sense.

I agree, the auto law is stupid as is the no open carry above 3" law in LA. But compared to New York and Chicago, California's a pretty nice place to be a knife enthusiast.

Blind hate? I hate all the stupid laws and the fact that the state takes 10% of my income and we have some of the worst schools in the country.

Ka Bar says, because of CA restrictions they can't send the knife to CA........... Who's blind again?

I pretty sure the only restrictions are: autos(over 2"), balisongs, and daggers(double edged)

There are some city ordinances that vary as well.

Kabar might just be playing it safe. The Brute is clearly not a dagger, but technically it is double edged so........

Maybe Morimotom will show up and correct us.

California prohibits the concealed carry of a dirk or dagger. Definition of dirk or dagger

A dagger is a double-edged blade designed for knife fighting, with a blade designed to facilitate either thrust strokes or slashing cuts to an opponent's body.[1] Typically equipped with a full crossguard designed to protect the hand during knife fighting, the dagger was often employed in the role of a secondary defense weapon in close combat. In most cases, a tang extends into the handle along the centreline of the blade.

Pretty much sums up the Big Brother there. Kabar wouldn't eliminate an entire state full of sales, if the law wasn't invovled somehow.

Note it says concealed carry on the dirk or dagger. Alot of companies are refusing to sell to California, the biggest one I remember right now, is the Barrett Rifles. No Barretts for you. :D

I don't think Ka Bar sells direct to the public, so who is really saying this? The dealer? Who is the dealer you are trying to buy the knife from?

That knife is perfectly legal in California.

THere are a bunch of crappy drop shipper dealers that all use the same service. Looks like that service has had problems with CA and MA. there's a stack of unknown dealers with identical disclaimers. This is just a random guess, but I'll bet whoever the real shipper is has gotten in trouble for shipping something else and now won't ship any model of anything (because they either can't or won't).

Looks like Blade HQ has your knife, in stock and no restriction is listed.
