Nope, got it from work. Every one in a while I get really really good deals on meat :D. Sliced by local meat providers

Good score! Sometimes it is not what you know, it is who you know. My in-laws raise beef.... Consequently, I have a chest freezer full of steaks, roast and burger downstairs.

Those perfect medium rare Delmonico steaks were delicious last night.

Jealous! the price of beef around here has gone up like 18% in the past 3-6 months. The stuff that I buy from work that is a really good deal is now on par with what was an average price last year.

I guess I can't complain too much. I still have two boxes of steaks left :D

Not as much as previously pictured :D a good 1+ lbs of it is now fried and devoured.

Went out to work on a knife/tomahawk backstop and found that I have absolutely none/zero/zip/nada 4 inch bolts of any diameter. Plenty of 3.5", 5", 6" and 8". I could get by with the 5" or 6" IF they were all-thread bolts. But, Oh No, no for this lucky individual. They are all left-overs from an earlier project that did not warrant all-threads, so I had bought cheaper, slightly stronger tip-thread bolts, the kind that only have about an inch of threading, meaning I can't use them unless I add 1" to 2" of washers that I don't have. Grrrr. 45 mile round trip to the nearest store open on Sundays. This project may have to wait unless I can find another box with bolts in it.

I need to build me one of those :D

In other news... I was looking for my #3072 that NoK graciously gifted me. I always put it back where my keys were after playing with it / testing it. It for some reason grew legs. I couldn't for the life of me find it and I started feeling horrible! I have only once ever lost a knife (it was at work), so I decided to ask my wife if she had seen it. Not only had she seen it, she has now claimed it!!!!!. She then went on to say that she always loves having me around because I always have a knife when things need to be cut. Now with her going back to work, I'm not around as much and because I have others; she decided this one was hers. I'll have to get her impressions after she gets some time with it.

Well at least now she doesn't have to bother you for a knife. I've given away several knives to people just so I don't have to loan out my good stuff.

True, she had never voiced to me before that she wanted one or I would have gladly got her one.

Happy wife = happy life. everybody wins!

at least yours cares enough to keep track of it - I got tired of SWMBO always asking for a knife, so I bought her a kershaw vapor when we started building the house.
she keeps misplacing it - and still asks me for a knife.
I'm tempted to give her a "can't lose it green" dozier folder....

Went to a Dutch oven cooking demo today. Pretty neat. I hadn't ever actually seen anyone cook with one in person before. Looks like you can make some great stuff with one.

During the chatting while waiting for the food to cook, the subject of chocolate gravy came up. I'd have thought they were pulling my leg, but from the way most of their eyes lit up at the mention of it, it obviously is a real thing and deeply loved by some. Spoke with the stepmother and she knew all about it. Anyone here heard of it before? Is it just an Arkansas thing?

It's a southern thing. Not a part of my family heritage (Germanic/Wendish), but I had it many times when staying over at a couple of different friends house when I was growing up. Served over homemade biscuits and butter, really good. Really more served as a desert than as part of the meal. Only thing that beats it is non-store bought honey. The only that is good about store bought honey is that it is better than no honey. Several recipes out there.

When we get home we're going to Google up a recipe or two. Might just pick up some local honey as well. A biscuit dinner featuring a chocolate gravy vs. local honey showdown sounds like my kind of a good evening.

Come visit me in the hospital while I recovery from my diabetic coma. :)
