This is the old coating it does not hold up as well as the new but the new creates a little more drag.

Take it out just like it is and process some wood. The BK9 works very well in stock form yes people including myself have done mods. But USE it first then decide what if anything you need to tweak.

+1

on something used outdoors I keep my coating on. If it bugs you alot, you can smooth it out a little with some 400-600 grit sand paper without completely removing it.

After selling off some BK&T knives, I've opened a space in my collection for a Dog's head. Now all I need to do is find one I can convince myself to purchase, I haven't seen very many on the exchange here.

Buy a couple. Pick the one you want. Put the rest on the exchange, and you can solve two problems! ;)

My problem is buying, I'm not addicted to selling. It's just a necessity so I can keep buying.

go look at the clearance page on the kabar website?

I'm looking for the Dog's Head utility knife, not the Hunter. I'm not sure I want it bad enough to buy it new, though, I'm hoping I can find a used one I'm not afraid to abuse for a bit before determining whether I wanna keep it or not.

I see old kabar knives at swap meets every once and a while. Next time imma pick one up and put a new handle and some new life back into it.

Very interesting.

I wanted to go play out in the forest this morning. My demon spawn decided to throw tantrums until we went inside :( oh children. :thumbdn:
