I think Maj. General James Mattis summed it up best.

"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet"

Which knife should I get,KA-BAR Short Black or KA-BAR Kraton Handled Mark I if I want a good knife for combat fight? I really like mark I but I'm not sure if mark I is a combat knife or not? My purpose of having this knife is only to use it for defending myself and I'm not a knife expert so I need your guys to help me get the right one.THANK YOU :D

Have the 1250 Short KA-BAR and Mk I, and spend a lot of time w/ both.

The Shorty is sabre ground and perfectly balanced, and the handle and pommel are slimmer. It is an outstanding field/combat knife for small-medium sized hands.

Hands down the choice for your criteria.

That said, I like'em both... and have modified both.

The Short KA-BAR got O-rings in the grooves which fattens up the handle a little and really improve the grip, and the top guard was removed, a-la the Mk 1, so that the knife has a safe side and allows better handling.

The Mk 1 got the pommel re-profiled because it was too fat in the width and the knife is a little butt-heavy anyway.

Both great knives, but the Shorty is your fighter.
