I've been surfing around the YouTube Zombie films and stuff and happened across Zombie Go Boom. It's a cool group that tests weapons against zombie heads they make themselves. I guess the heads are ballistic gel with a realistic skull inside. They spurt blood and everything. The guys claim their heads are actually tougher than a real human head...
Anyway there was a video of them using a Ka-Bar Swabbie, one of the Zombie Killer line. they cut the entire face off with one swipe, then they cut the zombie's head off with one swing. Everyone goes crazy. Apparently they test all kinds of weapons and have never had a knife do anything like that before. They compare it to a katana.
I started looking around. There are umpteen videos about this knife. One Canadian guy went on for 20 mins about it. Said it was the finest production knife ever made. It's become something of a cult item.
One video produced the knife with the introduction that, "Everybody in the world knows what this is."
Wow! I had to have one. It hasn't arrived yet.
The Swabbie is an unlikely hit. It's got a toxic green handle (also a black one) a big, bag-like sheath, and a small skeleton knife. I haven't paid much attention to the Zombie Weapons. I think they're cool, but I've not been into production knives for a long time.
This looks like a serious knife. It's 18.5" overall, with a 12" blade, 1095 steel and .25" thick, with a flat grind. There's no mistaking it. I have to admit, I haven't seen a knife this "Different" in a long time.

Did everyone know this knife was becoming famous?

It's discontinued?? Ka-Bar would be foolish to stop this production. I know the Zombie theme is a little transitory, but this knife is really well-known. I might buy a couple of them if its going out of production

I watch their videos for fun, and I definitely remember them testing this one.

I'm not sure why KA-BAR even bothered with the whole zomnie knives thing, but this seemed like a useable blade at least.

Out of production for years. Seems they can't give them away. They are famous among people who would say it is the best knife ever and that is not a good thing, nor did it equate to sales.

Did you watch that video. I put it up at the top. Pretty darned impressive...
We'll see. It looks like a fun knife and I didn't pay too much for it so.
I think they missed the mark by making it "Zombie" and giving it the toxic green handles. It makes it look like a toy and this is not a toy.

This is though. I bought it for $6 and free shipping. Aluminum toxic green handles and spring assist. The button has a zombie face on it. Pretty cool huh?

I have the Parangatang. Similar but much more practical. I love it. I would rather have it than the swabbie. The enormous ricasso on the swabbie turns me off.

No I didn't and I don't intend to. I can guess what is in it.

Sure it is a fun blade for having fun but as an actual weapon or tool I found I have knives and guns that could fill that roll much better. So get it and have fun but if anyone tells you it is the best knife ever I would not consider them a source of valuable information on anything.

As for the other knife...I'm glad you like it.

$46 straight from Ka-bar : https://www.kabar.com/cart ( mod ,please remove if disallowed ) ~$65 on Fleabay

 I'm just too dang old to understand the whole Zombie thing , but some of their tests seem fairly valid for regular SD or mayhem . I'm not sure this is any better than any well built machete or khukri ?

"UNREAL FACE DECAPITATION"

So...they cut the head off of a face?o_O

Yeah, I don't think I need to bother watching that video either.

Nobody's too old for cheap, super-cool, weapons (Remember the Frost knives from the 90's?)

How about this bad @%% 440 stainless zombie axe?

I think it's cool that people devote their lives to making realistic zombie dolls and then hacking them up on camera. Certainly better than any job I've ever had. You guys are pusses for not watching the decapitation video. Are you just not into the arts, is that it?

These guys are experts. Who else has a better opinion of "The Best Knife Ever?"

I think a knife that can hack the face off a zombie, with one swing, is a pretty useful tool.

Right on, man. Can't argue with experts. I just ordered four.

I kinda agree but don't get yourself banned . Better to put this in Prac/Tac , maybe ? ;)

You can call me a wuss AFTER you've eaten your bag lunch in the same room a necropsy / autopsy is being performed (and managed to hold your gorge ) .

Ha!

I just thought of a new video series: You dress up ballistic dummies to look like celebrities, actors, politicians, philanthropists, etc... and then you hack them up on camera, lots of slow motion, blood, brains, and bits of skull flying everywhere; How about Queen Elizabeth II? That would be cool.
Oprah's in the news a lot lately. You could have a special.
You could make them to order, with your boss, mother in law, car mechanic...

Bet you want a Swabbie then.

Your right "Puss" is too strong a term for squeamish non-zombie decapitation watchers. Maybe "Weenie," or even, "Pooper." I mean, people risked their lives to make that video.

Worked out well for Kathy Griffin.
