I recently bought the good ole ka-bar usmc 7". Being my 1st kB that I ever purchased, I was kinda disappointed with the thin blade (not even 3/16)and the overall length which should be 11 7/8 like specified on ka-bar website. The knife I'm holding in my hand is 12". Not that it's a huge difference but with my hands being smaller than average, it surely does matter.

Any info regarding this subject would help

I'd bitch like hell! Sounds like you have a false advertising lawsuit in your lap, just waiting for you to collect. Then you can buy yourself a life with your winfall. Good luck!

OMG really? its 1/8" longer? no way, i think you should return it :) You cant be serious!

You spoiled my fun! I was gonna wait for him to post that his KA-BAR was defective because it was now an 1/8" too SHORT!!!

Oh well...this guy should be alot of fun anyhow :)

Well, the cat's out of the bag now.

This is their new double-secret, black bag mercenary knife. As you engage the enemy, each with a Ka-bar, and you stab at the same time, you'll kill him first by an 1/8" that has been added.

They slipped up in sending it to you. Bury it before some innocent person finds it.

Sounds like you bought it sight-unseen off the net. The good old Kabar is crude, but effective. It is no thicker than it needs to be and has a basic large round handle. I own WWII vintage models in my collection, but I never liked the handle. What you got is what they normally are. Next time check out a store first.

I don't know if you can find a new one around anymore, but Kabar, Ontario, or Camillus used to make versions of the WWII Quartermaster's knife. This had an oval handle and a thicker blade. It was expected to be used to pry open packing cases. It sounds more like what you wanted.

The space between the dots represents aprox., 1/8", depending on your monitor screen size. Why concern yourself, and others with it?

Don't be dissapointed. That's a great knife with a long history. It is 5/32" thick. That's a good thickness. Strong enough for most tasks and light enough for all day carry. Great start for a collection.

I have a D2 kabar, reported to have a 7" blade, but it's 6 15/16" long. Suffice to say I was very dissapointed;)

You should be happy. 1/8" is alot of free knife.

And yes, welcome to BFC:)

Wow. You poor guy.

You remind me of this kid I knew in high school who was so intent on making sure that no-one took him for a fool that when he went shopping for a car, he grilled the salesman about the turning radius and whether the gearshift was likely to be sticky.

We all laughed, but it was still kind of sad.

None of you guys have had the courtesy to answer the man's question. The answer is, yes, it's a lie. They advertised a knife at 11 7/8" and delivered one that is 12". LIARS.;)

Editud four bad speling:(

You know that the next knife off the Ka-Bar production line will be SHORT by that 1/8", right? The law of physics states that matter cannot be created or destroyed, but remains a constant in the universe. I can't wait to see the post from the poor bastard who got short-shipped by 1/8" because of that goat-phucker Newton.

I just got short-shipped. I received my Ka-Bar today, and it is not 11 7/8" as advertised, it is only 11 6/8". WTF????

the overall length which should be 11 7/8 like specified on ka-bar website. The knife I'm holding in my hand is 12".
The culprit here could be ambient temperature. The Kabar website doesn't mention the ambient temperature for the 11 7/8" measurement. Perhaps it was taken in a relatively cool, dry (even air-conditioned) environment and your 12" measurement was done in a fairly hot, humid environment. This could explain the 1/8" expansion you are seeing. What happens if you leave the knife in the fridge for a couple of hours? ;)

My, uh...favorite tool is exactly 6 7/8" long, but I like to say it's 7". Is this wrong?

Who cares? If he's a troll, he's an awful dumb one- this is one of the funniest threads I've read here in ages. And here I thought trolls were supposed to spread chaos and make mischief.
