KA-BAR USSF or Buck 110 ???

I dunno, that blue on the Kabar always makes me think it's the worst baby shower gift, ever.

I asked for that
So received
And now I must dig much deeper in boxes and find all my Buckies !!!
If I good remember i own many of them but never, NEVER used even one :^O

I'm Very Cold Steeler :^D

All else aside, the true value of a Buck 110 is using it. There are few cutting tools that do the actual job of cutting stuff as well. It's all about geometry!

Would show up really well if you dropped it in the woods though. If they offered the Dog's Head version with the blue handle, I would buy it.

I sometimes think I’m the only person who appreciates the heft of a 110. It’s a devastating striking weapon. Great glass breaker. And decent brass hammer for rifle sights.

After you carry it about a year or so you find that it does indeed open and close with 1 hand.

The Buck 110 is a classic, with classic looks (except the 110 Slims). The Ka-Bar Space Bar is a goofy take on a decent knife, which you should only buy as a joke. Years from now, one of them you're going to appreciate a lot more than the other, unless you're actively into cosplay.

That's why I bought that one few days ago :^D

First point: this thread actually didn't ask about the Space-Bar.

Second point: most people buying Ka-Bars could be accused of "cosplay"...military cosplay.
Thought about getting a Ka-Bar in my early teens because army stuff was cool; too expensive for teen with no cash though.

I knew a few people who could have been accused of cosplay when they bought a Buck folder; they thought of it as a knife bikers carried.

The Ka-Bar fighting and utility knife is a decent knife, whatever colour it comes in. Not the greatest knife, but a pretty good knife. :)
And when it comes to cosplay potential, well, I always thought space exploration seemed cooler than slogging through stuff on Earth, so I'll vote for the Space-Bar version. ;)

The standard Blade Forums answer is, of course: get both.

Of the many knives (Ok. too many) that I own - some of which I actually use regularly, the Buck 110 is a keeper. Yes, its, heavy and doesn't open with one hand - but it's kind of a "must have" knife. for what it's worth, the Buck 110 has never failed to do anything (reasonable) that I've ever asked a folder to do.

To further complicate matters, it's hard to go wrong with a KaBar anything either.

I hope my insights have sufficiently cleared things up.

I was basing my response on the folding space force knife, but if you're considering a regular Kabar fighting knife vs a Buck 110, those are different styles for different uses and you should probably have both. Most knife nuts do. I do. I'm more fond of the Space Force blue handled fighter than I am the folder, the blade on the folder is kinda weird in my opinion.

Good point. Today, a Buck 110 is a knife that old dudes carry. No cosplay for me, I play the role naturally.

I don't carry a 110 and I'm a year younger than you. My main knife EDC's are a Carothers DEK1 in D3V steel, Kershaw Launch 1 in CPM154, Gerber Gator 650 in 154CM, and Buck 301 in 425M.

I recently decided that I'm old enough to do what I want without regard to the earth people's delicate sensibilities. I used to carry a 112 in my pocket, now I carry a 110 on my belt. In a few more years, maybe I'll carry a 119.

No sensibilities here - the 110 is a tried and true design. I've been thinking about getting me a 110 auto.

Don't worry. Your not alone. Lack of heft is why, I have never been interested in any of the lite, or slim 110s.

It's amazing. You don't even realize it is happening, until something happens and you realize, I just opened that one handed, and Ihave been doing so for awhile now,

O.B.
