[KaBar] cross-talk the BK9 has something to contend with

Don't get me wrong, I think its a cool knife, and I am sure it chops great. I just feel bad for the Kabar rep for having to spend an afternoon with that guy....

Kabar meat cleaver = Awesomesauce.

I have something to say in rebuttal.......

It's my little Zombie knife!!! :D

But it's a Cam 9 blank. Regardless it's a 1/4" spine!!!

The King is not concerned.

Honestly, I like the looks of it, without green handles. I'd buy one as long as it's U.S. made.

hm. kinda ugly. prolly a good hatchet replacement.
If Ka-Bar goes the cold-steel route of advertising how good their tools are at dismemberment I'm gonna have to object...

I still need to get me a chopper. I have the standards, ax, hatchet, mashitty, etc., but I need a BK2, BK7, and BK9. Maybe even a green handled zombie/wood cut'n chunk of steel.

Youguys gotta pay attention, this thing has fairly good handles, and is a 1/4 inch think plate of creative...urder. murder. :D its what, 3 1/2" wide? You make and damn bladeshape you want. I wanna make a gigantic drop point:D

Hmmm...Think I'll pass. Ever since I saw a comparison video of a Cammi BK-1 and a Ka-Bar 4 and 9 its completly turned me off from .250" choppers.

Do we have any real specs for this thing? I keep hearing .25in thick, but what about length? It looks to be about 8in or so, but I could be off because of how tall the blade is.

My initial impression is actually is that it looks like a combination of a cleaver and the way early machax prototypes.

EDIT:
Here is the machax proto I was talking about. It reminds me a bit of the one on the far right.

The ZK knives are a bit of a gimmick in terms of marketing, but the knives are solid. I've enjoyed my warsword, and while it doesn't chop quite as good as my BK9, its still a great knife.

The king is still the king! Maybe this thing is a good chopper, maybe not, but a nine is and will continue to be the best. At least until Ethan comes out with something better.:D

Yes I am a BK&T fanboy!!!

I would maybe use that in the kitchen on giant hunks of meat, but I'll take my king any day over that if it's just a straight knife comparison.

yeah, so youse guys? the zombie thing is supposed to be "fun"... as the knives come with black handles, you can swap and be all ser'rus biz'nezzzzz...

course, that high-viz thing is fantastic if you drop it in the mud :)

as well, they're just having fun with the head chopping thing... be real. there's a lot of whacky advertising out there, and a lot of it is just PURE FUN. enjoy it.

course, your bros might give you shit, but remember it, and never let them borrow it when they need some serious tools...

because that's what most of the "zombie line" is... resurrected, old school, often military patterns that have been abandoned, or are otherwise collectible and rare now; so KaBar is doing you a solid by bringing out american made (now), full-tang, high quality blades of all styles. i believe they are all 1085 steel. the sheaths are quite nice. the value is there.

don't like the handles? just like with Beckers, swap them out. they bolt on. easy, peasy.

soooooo serious some of you. buy a chopper, go get some!

now, that zombie thing? it might be "stoopid", but consider, that KaBar sold there entire first batch last year pretty much based on demos and rumor. they had emergency sprint batches made up, and sold out ENTIRELY. it's rather odd, but that's what the market wants. fun, useful blades (apparently not so much crap art stuff anymore). at that Blade show, the zombie stuff basically sold out in a day, with a few straggler. at the last Blade show, they didn't bring enough (of many items, alas), as they sold out again, certain models a little slower, but that Case Pilots knife pattern (the chopper)? boo yah. the "chop stick"? yup.

and there's MORE COMING. aye matey, yar, argggh, y'all be wantin that one, be cutting lasses in twain, ahoy there missy!

if that came with a leather stacked handle instead of the Johnson Adventure Blades abombination scales, I'd be all over it!

well, the full-tang is pretty darn good...

it probably would be fairly straight-foward to grind that down a wee bit, thread the end (or weld on a bolt in a slot), and stack on your own leather and birch :> that would be "ver-ah knice-ah"

heck, you could even extend the handle some for your viking hands :>

I could do without the whole zombie promotion as well but seems to be selling. Bullet makers are even manufacturing zombie bullets which are basically polymer tipped varmint bullets. I might be interested in some of the designs when they are made here. I like the high vis scales for camping etc.
