I'm thinking of ordering a kakbritva what are your thoughts or other recommendations. Thank you

Which model? They have lots available of which one if my favorites being the "Luch" (Ray) model.

The sylift

Or luch.
Any recommendations and or details about the machines? Very limited information online.

The sylift

The Sylift is actually not one specific model, it's one of their options for vertical angle adjusting available on any model. It's a belt geared system for adjusting your sharpening angle.

The Luch model also comes with a Sylift adjusting mechanism. What makes the Luch a great choice, is the fact that the rotating knife clamp unit can swivel up and down, opening a whole world of options (like scissors sharpening etc without extras).

KakBritva makes top quality systems and excellent value for money. Your best bet to get hold of one if you're in the USA, is to contact Gritomatic (USA company) directly on their "contact us" link to see if they have any in stock.

That's a good choice, but it has the older style fixed knife clamp (can't adjust up and down). If I were you, I would get the Luch model, with the turntable as an optional extra.

This will give you an excellent system.

I have both models (the one in your link, and also the Luch model) and I installed the turntable on my Luch model. It's a great system.

Great thank you for the information. I'm glad as asked before I ordered. Also I have blades in 4v v4e s110v. S35vn. Would you get high end diamond stones or which ones would you recommend?

My pleasure! You'll love the Luch model. Just a tip for reference - when you get it, you can clean up the abrasive grease (and replace it with any regular grease) they install grease with silicon carbide grit in it for extra abrasion on the up/down swivel of the knife clamp assembly, it's not necessary for extra friction at all. For me, it works better with regular lubricant.

Absolutely get diamond or CBN stones, no other stones will be necessary for all your knife sharpening needs.

My favorite diamond and CBN stones are the Venev resin based stones, I also love the Venev MS1 metallic bonded stones.

For repairs and bevel setting, any cheap diamond plated low grit stone will work, but for more refined edges you'll want diamond/CBN resin or metallic bonded stones.

I will check. I'm sure they will respond tomorrow. I will update the forum for reference for yourself and others.

Do you see the base on the luch. Is this older then the one you sent me
You're right. The pics I found that I posted for you is not exactly the same as my Luch model. The link you posted in your post above (post #11), is exactly my Luch model.👍🏻

Mine has the locking lever on the side, like the one in the link.

Ok very nice. I will move forward with the buy. Thank you for all your advice.

My thoughts on KakBritva is..I'd love to get my hands on their sword sharpener and axe sharpening system. Unfortunately Gritomatic has no eta on a restock or if they even ever will be able to restock. I see they have a web site but I'm not incredibly comfortable making international credit card purchases. It's a shame, cause I would buy both systems.

i have received my kakbritva. i love it. its very nice sturdy machine.i haave sharpened about 6 knives this week on it. so far very nice.
