Kalifornia to ban handgun ammo (effectively)

You know, being a Brit I never really got a sense of the Liberal Left. In my mind a bunch of hard core right wingers ( lots on this site I thought) were just spewing anti'whatevertheydontagreewith' disdain upon. Now I realise that the left or is that right in the US? Anyway, the retards that think banning anything is going to stop a social problem that ( and get this) they are the biggest cause of ( due to the bleeding heart mentality) actually made.
Man this is FUBAR, when are people going to wake up, slap a kid thats out of line and just get on with life, rather than feed then some drugs and send them to a counseler?

You yanks should thank your lucky stars that you still have some power, the UK has gone to hell its been Pu****ied (think feline) to the point that I fear all the Y chromosomes have been replaced with Vidal Sasoon shampoo.

Why can't the rest of the US think like we do?

An excellent question, have you considered that there are other forums that
think the complete opposite to the way than we here do?

If you want to see some really scary stuff then go to "brady campaign to
stop hand gun violence" or HCI. Or try the VPC, there is a parallel universe
that hardly anyone wants to look at but they are out there.

(I think the "ballistic fingerpaint" initiative is a conspiracy with CS and
Lynn Thompson to sell more knives to recently disarmed CA citizens)

So, how does the State match the bullet to the purchaser if the purchaser pays cash?

The seller is to keep a record by the serial number and a ID to match the
purchase. AZ should see a jump in ammo sales.

I didn't see that in the original post. If it's true, it's much more offensive to me than simple serialization of bullets.

I am coming around to the position that the whole idea is a bad one, largely likely (and probably intended) to act as a "hassle tax" (and a monetary tax as well) to discourage ammo sales.

I still think that serialization of bullets is potentially a good idea, but this goes much farther than that.

imho serialization is a horrible idea which is gonna do nothing but lead to more and more and more BS. dont think so?? if this law passes just wait and see.......imho its step 1 of many.

all ya guys in kali outta be writing senators/calling radio shows/fighting back, and above all join the NRA.

Regarding the "ammo ban" or whatever. It is a pipe dream. It will never happen. It will cost millions of dollars of desperatly needed money.
What idiot thought this up ? All a criminal has to do is buy his/her ammo out of state... Not to mention the fact that there is allready millions upon millions of rounds already floating around.
Who elects these turds anyway ?

Serialized bullets? How about some kind of genetic imprint from the user of the actual gun?...............these lawmakers have been watching too much Judge Dredd...................cosmetic politics at their worst yet again.

Simple equation though: Serialized bullets cost ammo makers money--not taxpayers and we can all pretend we're helping solve the crime probelm=Good Politics.

Build more prisons, increase penalties for violent crimes and get the worst offenders away from the public AND actually reduce crime--but that means increasing taxes=Bad, Bad Politics, especially during election years. Go figure...................

I don't think that the serialization as described would be that big a burden to implement. They already have various kinds of laser marking devices that are used by the semiconductor industry. It would be easy to mark the outside of a slug with a laser even with finished ammunition. The problem is that it would be very easy to remove the markings. Question, do you think that criminals would be strongly deterred from removing the ID numbers from the bullets in the stolen guns that they are carring illegally? Or don't you think that they will use stolen or black market ammunition? It would be a convenience in cases where someone murders a friend or family member in a crime of passion. It is not going to effect professional criminal or gang member.

The sort of thinking that went into the proposed law is exactly the sort of 'feel good' crap that the Clinton's might do.
It doesnt solve anything in the end and winds up costing We The People a truckload of cash that is better spent elsewhere.
This BS is of the sort that shows the idiocy of our lawmakers , what good is it going to do when the people they are targeting do not own thier guns legally in the first place....
The only people this would have hurt , or impacted is folks like you and I , as usual.

Sometimes I am thoroughly embarassed by the State I live in , this is one of those times.

I guess no one's reading this. So I'll post the relevant part here:

Yeah! Looks like we dodged a bullet this time!

Seriously, this issue made me mad enough to get off my butt and start sending letters/emails to my legislators. There's also a new member welcome pak from the NRA sitting just inches from my keyboard right now:)

We've got to remain vigilent to maintain our rights. I finally remembered that this includes ME!

How about you?

Made my calls, and sent e-mails weeks ago. Signing up a bro this week.

Best Regards,
