Kamis need some supplies

Would mild steel be of use? I have a decent pile of 6' by 1/2" rods of mild steel that were cutoffs from security gates. They do me no good, but I have no clue what steel they actually are. Best guess is 1050 or 4140.

I think we have around 40 pounds of stuff to ship. I will probably send out several smaller boxes to keep costs down. At this point, we have enough wood for 5 to 10 knives and enough supplies and materials for every kami to last a long time.
If anybody would care to donate $ for shipping, that would be the most help now...
(Brian already did)

I'll be sending some supplies of my own, along with my order.

I don't know how to express my deepest appreciation
for the extreme generosity expressed by my friends and
forumites on this forum.

You donated 50 lbs of wood and other necessary supplies
to the shop and the Kamis. Your kindness will keep the
Kamis employed and busy creating knives for your collections.
Danny from Japan will ship the supplies to
the shop in Nepal as soon a he can.
I would like to thank all of you on this forum for your amazing
generosity that helps the shop, HI and the Kamis. Without all
of you, HI and the Kamis would be lost.

My heart is smiling and all of you are the reason.

If you can ship them yourself, I bet they could be very useful..

To be shippd with my order:
1 piece of teak wood
1 Army Surplus, steel-shafted hatchet (discussed earlier in this thread)
1 dust mask
1 pair of safety glasses

That's all I've got. By the way, can anyone recommend the safest/most legal way to ship that hatchet? I've never mailed anything like this before.....

I have been thinking about this, is there some sort of oil or wax that could be sent to the kamis to help the handles from cracking so much?

The problem isn't in Nepal,so sending Kamis oil or wax won't help much and they have enough to do without greasing handles. The problem lies in the handles coming from the Nepali weather and dessicating too much in the dry Nevada heat. It would probably be better if we all bought Yangdu a humidifier for the computer shack.

Maybe Yangdu can use the wax ...has to be cheaper than a dehumidifier but then we would lose all those bargains wouldn't we?

She sure as heck doesnt need a dehumidifier , but you probably could see about sending her the handle preps.

Ah Karda, I was hoping that error slipped by ...that's what happens when one has a fortnight's break away from posting. :o

At almost $200 for three litres of Renaissance Wax, I am afraid I won't be helping out any more at this time but perhaps 'Brian' will?:p

One box is away, the rest I will send next Friday (the 14th) so if anybody has anything else to donate, hurry up! The train is pulling out..

Great job, thank you Danny
