Just finished my third katana.
Antique fittings were provided and are in a dragon theme.

The ishime finish on the saya is a first and after 5 attempts I am pleased with the result. Koiguchi, kojiri and kurikata are in buffalo horn.

The point of balance with tsuka etc is 6" ahead of the tsuba making it a very well handling sword. I am very pleased from the practical side with this piece. I brought it to my Iaido sensei (6th dan in both Eishin Ryu Iaido and Itto Ryu Kenjutsu) and he approved of the handling, something I'm quite proud of.

Specs..

Steel is DHIII W2
28 1/2" blade (72.4cm, 2.38 shaku) - 9 1/2" nakago
7/8" - 15/16" sori (torii sori - ie, apex of curvature at centre of the blade) ..
812g (1lb 12.6oz) bare blade - 1072g (2lbs 5.7oz) with tsuka, tsuba etc.
10 3/4" tsuka

Thanks for looking.

^^^ This.

Really impressed. And that hamon is brilliant.
The purple isn't really my cup-o-tea... but considering everything else, I'm willing to overlook it.

Yeah, for you, Erin, ought to be lavender to match your eyes. :D. j/k

Stuart, I've said this to you before, but I NEED to say it again - I stand in awe of you, man.

Breathtaking my friend.....incredible hamon, let alone the rest.

Beyond incredible Stuart. It brings happiness to my soul to see your work. Mike

Fantastic!
Also somewhat terrifying.

Stuart, I didn't realize you were in Victoria - I was just there for work in September and looking for knife makers. Lovely town, I look forward to being back there.

I think the curvature is fetching, as well as the show-stopper hamon.
