Katana #3

Yep.

I am still absolutely thrilled with the ko-wakizashi that Stuart made for me a couple of years ago, but I have to admit that this Katana takes it to another level.

Congrats, Stuart. And congrats to the owner (and I even like the purple

).

I know I'm being a pest, but if you have a picture of your ko-wakizashi and you're up for it, I certainly would not complain about seeing it. Since this is Stuart's thread, i understand if it's not appropriate to show here. Mike

As a compromise, here is a link to a thread with a crappy professional photo. I hesitate to show it because the picture is so lousy that it does the piece no justice at all. At some point I want to send it for a competent professional picture, but it is large and kind of a PITA to pack and ship. Maybe I will get off the dime after the holidays. But at least it will give you a vague idea of the piece. The hamon is incredible, although (again) you cannot tell from that picture. If you scroll down to the second page and look at the quick pics that Stuart took, you can at least get a sense. This piece is special to me not only because of the experience with Stuart, but also because it has been my daughter's introduction to the world of blades due to its dragon theme (she is really fascinated by dragons).

Anyway, back on topic, it has been gratifying seeing this thread as I am a big fan of Stuart and his swords.

Thank you Ken. Very much appreciated. That is an amazing piece. Perfect in every respect (IMHO). Loved Stuart's photo's, video clips, and explanations also. I'll be revisiting that thread a number of times. What a treat. Thanks again. Mike

I need a Branson Tanto, or waki. The end.

Ken, that photo is hilarious! Man...

No kidding. It is hard to know where to start . . . maybe with the very end of the handle at the right side where you can see that it was literally blended into the background. It still angers me that I actually paid for that.

yep, and a piece with a stand should never, ever be blended into a photo without some kind of border separating the individual images.

I hope you gave Stu a nice xmas tip on this one, you are a damn lucky guy ;)

Only the most offensive of superlative expletives can describe reactions on seeing this sword. I'd be proud to be decapitated with it.

Thanks again everyone. I have another that I will beginning soon and I think I will make it a bit of a WIP...
