Keep it Alive in 2025

It used to be my favorite part of the forum knife process, and then it became my least favorite. There were a few times that it came very close to making me walk away from the porch altogether.
I think it got to the point where many of us dreaded the whole thing, which just caused a lot of disruption to The Porch :(

Those 53/54's are big knives. That's the reason I'm going to sell my Forum knife.... it's just a bigger knife than I want to carry... But.. I could certainly be in the minority about that.
I would agree that the muli-blade versions are pretty hefty, but if we went with something like a single clip I bet it'd stay pretty slim in the pocket.

Never really understood why people sanctimoniously deplore the 'old days' of polling, it might actually show people in their true light 🤣 And if you don't like polls then stay out of them , but many such people were avid contributors... Conversely , some people talk about the mystique of the Forum knife representing something more....well OK to do that it has to have the input of the forum members, all members not solely a handful of 'Traditionalists' either and that requires open discussion and polls. If not, you get what Bill Howard (or insert other) might be able to fit into their schedule (completely understandable) or wants to use as a launch pad for a new patern (again very OK) But it's a diktat, take or leave and the Forum owner makes a business decision to see if it's viable. There's no mystique in that, community spirit or the need to feel 'gratitude' either

The last Forum Knife didn't interest me at all despite (or because of) my liking for the Stockman pattern: too big, weak jigging, lacklustre dye and far too expensive even IF I could have got one to the EU. Likewise, the 23 and 22 had no appeal for me and these too were take it or leave it knives and I would have taken one if they interested me. Felt it was good because tastes vary and others will be delighted with their Forum knives.

Here are my favourites that I would not part with (plus the 2013 as it's so unusual, that too sparked controversy as it was expensive at the time) I see no theme running through them-except there were polls to decide them! Well, they're all made of animal headgear, Sambar Stag, American Elk, Mufflon. 2 stainless, 1 carbon, all single spring, one is two bladed. They represented value too especially the Buck which is a fine user and total bargain. 2 American made, 1 Italian. Serpentine, Swayback, Swell-End. Thankful to have them and use them, hope that something will be on offer in 2025 too :)

Wait a sec, the viper was mouflon?!?! I thought it was domestic ram, if the former wow!
That’s a game animal I’ve always dreamed of hunting.

Will Power Will Power regarding

BF knife is (and was?) in fact a Traditional subforum knife, more or less, given that it is a traditional knife, and remembering the qualification criteria "at least x posts in Traditional subforum". So, if there should be a global poll, participants must meet same criteria too. Just a thought.

And the motorbike.....which is an Australian invention btw.
If you have any references handy, I'd be interested to read them. I've always read that it was Frenchman Ernest Marchaux around 1870 with steam power, and Gottlieb Daimler around 1885 with IC. If the Australians actually did invent motorcycles then its just another (as if we need any more) reason to love them 😍
Imagine a Larrin model with burgundy micarta scales like they did with the original 501s 1974-1981. Blade options in the custom shop include magnacut and S35VN. Prices start at $130 for a magnacut blade. Same for a 55; I don't have a 55 yet, either. If they would only take a large custom order....
I'm in

I think you misunderstand many of us. We're not saying that we did not enjoy the polling. We're saying we do not appreciate what the polling inadvertently led to, which was a rather contentious and toxic discussion surrounding what was supposed to be a fun endeavor.
