your grain is matched across the sides you have against each other, the opposite side of each block appears flat in your photo. Put the flattish outside face against your tang, you will have a beautiful bookmatched handle grain on the outside where it matters. Pay attention to what your materials tell you (or you could just send those defective scales to me
