Hello, I am not sure if this has been discussed but I always wondered why people do not leave the price of a product that has sold on the exchange. It will greatly help other members when searching for what a knife recently sold for.

Instead of saying "SOLD" just say "SOLD for" or "SOLD"and just keep asking price.

Over at the candle power forums members are encouraged to leave prices(well... leaving the sold price is a now rule)by other members.
Ofcourse this is not CPF and I do not expect you to mock another forum but I really think it can only help the exchange.

Thanks, Chris

Ditto that. If I can see the price that a knife sold for, I can realize how badly I screwed up by not paying attention and letting a bargain slip through my fingers.

It's the sellers pejorative. Sometimes you have to sell at knife at a great loss and don't want that to hurt other peoples sales.

Yes true, but hopefully the person looking for information will take into account several sales and not base their price on just one thread.

Also, while we do see members selling products and taking a loss I believe it is more common to see prices right where they should be and maybe 2 out of 10 sales being in the buyers favor with the seller taking a loss.

I would still argue it's my decision and right.

Bladeforums does not want to make a rule about this, and most people seem to have fallen into the habit of of removing the price.

Tech Support is a good place to ask about this, but I'm going to move it to FEEDBACK where we've discussed it before, and where it may influence people to realize they don't have to remove the price.

Thats not a problem, I do not expect everyone to think the way I do.

Why don't you pony up as a supporting member of BladeForums......then we can talk about helping the community.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Yep, it's your "decision and right".

Would be nice IMO if they were left up though. Just a little more history/info of what was...

And FWIW, it's actually the Seller's *perogative*...

1. What is "nice", "decent" or "fair" is, fortunately, the decision of the seller on BladeForums....I wipe every sale that is completed.

2. Since you are playing BladeForums Spelling Police....it's "prerogative"....;)

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Yes, I was a bit hasty with that post. Prerogative was what I meant, not pejorative. :o

Touche' Mr Garsson. My bad, and apologies to those affected by the typo...

I for one leave my sales theads *as is*... :)

In the rare instances when I sell something, I keep the price there after the sale. I like being able to view past sales and see what things are going for, and I know other folks appreciate being able to do that too.

I guess I just have a sweet spirit.

In the past, I would leave the price there and put sold on the page in red bold. I stopped this, because for whatever reason, people would ignore the sold portion and send me emails saying they'll take it. No such annoyances since I started removing the price.

It will greatly help other members when searching for what a knife recently sold for.

I’d like to know how a recent sale on the secondary market helps other members.

There are many variables dictating what price a knife was sold for at a particular place in time. For example, condition of the knife, economic conditions surrounding the sale, will an original box or case accompany the knife, just to name a few.

Is the seller at fault by removing the price it sold for? It’s quite possible the buyer doesn’t want anyone to know what they purchased the knife for.

Another interesting question to answer. . . .is the final price in the for sale thread the “actual” price it sold for? If it differs, how does this help other members?

“Recently” is a subjective term.

Whether I sell my house, autos, knives, underwear, or used condoms, the details of the sale is between the buyer and moi. Seller prerogative. :D

Ditto.

What I'd like to see is more members locking the threads after there is nothing to sell.
Not many do and it wastes time clicking on them just to see everything is sold.

Most of the time I leave the price but I have been asked to remove it by the buyer,I guess so when they flip it no one will see what they paid.

A lot of my orders come from threads where the knife has already been sold. If I did not leave the price the potential customer would not know if it was something might be interested in. I also like to see what stuff is bringing. Just my .02.
