Anyone have one of these? How does it shoot and is it reliable? I've considered buying one as an alternative to an FN Five Seven pistol. I know ballistically they're not the same but for me it's close enough.

Here's a little proto model> http://youtu.be/O6GxFws8B7k

I have one, love it.
I also have a 5.7 love it more.
better built is the 5.7

if kel-tec made a .22 LR version, there would be no one that did not have one.

Editted my post because I forgot to associate the name with the dangerous blow ups ... jeez ... with Jaxx mate Legaleagle and M67's experiences ... even in a small group like this there have been serious issues ...

Go FN and don't look back.

I haven't fired either, but FN has a reputation for quaility. I'm not hating on Kel Tec, but the PMR has issues.

When the PMR 30 first came out, it had key holing issues, they replaced the barrels and it was okay (fluted to non fluted barrels).

Then, they had 2 blow up, suspended production for 4-5 months I think.

The shop I work never had one in until about a month and a half ago. We received 2 from the new production.

Then, one we sold blew up after 43 rounds (CCI solids), I'll post a pic tomorrow when I get back to work and have access to the memory card. After the blow up, we took back the other one we sold and we washed our hands of the pistol and won't sell them any more.

So, FN all the way.

I coveted the PMR30 and still want one...... only after Cabela's agrees to start selling them again. The liability and reliability is that big of an issue.

Is it me, or does it seem that Kel-Tec's have a bit of an issue with "blowing up"? Ah, well...I'll let that slide. ;)

Looks fun. I have two friends that love keltec so I've gotten to play and shoot a few. I honestly do not think they are well made. They seem to shoot fine and I honestly haven't had any jams while shooting them, but when I hold a gun from a company I consider higher quality (colt,HK) I feel like the keltecs a Walmart version. I personally would never purchase one. Just my thoughts.

I've seen this, but have only seen rumors of a threaded version.

I reeeeeally want a nice 22mag platform for a suppressor, and this would be it.

Or even a 30 round 22lr version with threaded barrel.

Just picked one up this past Friday along with a KSG, glad you guys don't like them because that leaves more for me.
The PMR weighs nothing and holds 30 rounds of 40 grain traveling at 1475fpm.
You don't even feel it in a backpack and the KSG will hold 21 rounds of 1 3/4" 12 gauge or 15 rds of 2 3/4", 13 rounds of 3"

Anyway, I love the new PMR, it feels good in my hand.

Jaxx, don't you have some threads to lock down? LOL:D

Chuck, Exactly what I was planing on using mine for backpacking the Appalachian trail.

Hey Mutts at least I put off topic!

Tim should be able to help ... the compensated full auto version would be cool if it had a 3 rnd burst akin to the old H&K VP70. As is, in the video, it blips a mag a bit to quick to control a 3 rnd burst IMO ... but as a single S/A the 30 rnd capacity appeals to me to as a high volume/low weight/low recoil pistol. Particularly if the muzzle break is threaded to screw off and fit a silencer as an option. Great option for a rifle/shotgun/pistol trio where the pistol is for pro-active use and living off the land.

Yes, we have one. Tim's out working on the tractor. We haven't had any problems with ours, haven't sent in the barrel yet, either. It's lightweight, even with the clip full. I'll tell Tim about this thread when he comes in.

Good designs executed poorly so blow ups have happened are a scary proposition ... I forgot the issues Keltec have had ... I hope those who have them stay safe

Allowing for such a small group as ourselves and finding the issues with keltec within the group ... as good as the designs are ... if they blow up it just is'nt worth it.

We come on here because we can see the merit of a Busse and the hard use they can take ... so why play the odds with things as dangerous as firearms ?

Let's not forget that Legaleagle was lucky not to lose his sight or be killed ... this incident is'nt just internet rumour ... we know the guy it happened to ...
