Kelly Flint Edge Axes - Post em Up

Good quality axes that can be had at house and yard sales for next to nothing. Much better deals than any axe currently marketed.

Earlier this year I put up a thread about a single-bit my wife bought for a dollar-fifty which has it's original handle here:

I just got an infraction for this and ten points, they called it "trolling"! I don't get it...... Everyone knows that Kelly Flint Edge axes are good quality, plentiful and cheap, or am I being called a liar because I said I my wife got one for $1.50???

That was a message sent directly to you. You took a screenshot of it and posted it here.

Your interpretation is what's important.

Let's let Ben and the moderators deal with that behind the scenes and keep this thread on topic. Flint Edge Axes!

I have another differently shaped Kelly's flint edge boys axe but without the arm and hammer logo as visible.

That is a terrific looking grind on that axe.

Thanks. Filed and honed to 6000 grit. I sometimes go beyond that with a couple razor hones I have - equivalent to about 8000, 10,000 & 12,000 grit. Very scary sharp at that point. But glide easily into and out of the wood. Anyone who tells you an axe doesn't need to sharp has never used a sharp one.

His history caught up with him.

Instead of trolling, it looks like he's trying to give helpful advice, with a link to an earlier thread with photos and details about the $1.50 axe.

I have to agree with the two Gentlemen Above. Unless there is more to this, I don't see anything wrong with what was said.

It may be sacrilege, but here is what I did with a Kelly Flint Edge that came to me with a cracked eye. I only wish it had cracked on the other side so I could have saved the stamping. Second life as a utility axe that I wouldn't hesitate to loan out- different strokes for different folks.

Here are two of my DB Flint edges. The one with the handle is my "user" around the property. For some reason the Kelly Flint edge is very common in my area. Either it was Kelly's biggest seller after WWII, or some local merchant here pushed them hard?
