keltec 12 gauge tactical shotgun. Thoughts?

There was another thread on this "thing" awhile ago. There was a similar shotgun made in South Africa several years ago, but BATF would not allow it to be imported.

Why the hell would SWAT teams want this thing? TV shows?

Thank you! I was about to mention the South African model. It's an anti sniper weapon, but it's primarily chambered in 10guage!:D

Personally, I really like the concept. It seems very versatile and the compact size and ammunition capacity makes it even more appealing. I like having an optics rail coming stock with the gun like that so i don't have to look for dedicated optic adapters like i would with an 870 or something. However, I also imagine that loading a bullpup shotgun would take plenty of practice to become efficient at. Secondly, I kinda dislike that the choke isn't changeable but I hear they're developing a choke adapter for the threaded barrel. And like several others mentioned, the first production run KSG had some sort of trigger issue that they have fixed, etc. So, bottom line (for me at least) is; I'll wait a year or so for kel-tec to work out any bugs, and hopefully I'll put a few rounds through one if the opportunity presents itself and see if I like it.

Its a great idea, 2 tubes means 2 different loads can be used which is a very nice added extra.

Sadly because Kel-Tec makes it what will happen is:

1. The first batch will have problems
2. The 2nd batch will still have problems, just different ones
3. 7 will be ready to ship on the release date
4. Actual production will be apparently handled by 2 dudes in the back of a van or at least the production numbers will seem like it
5. They will run out of a fairly basic part and wont be able to make any for awhile
6. They will announce that production is running at 110%. This will be a lie and/or it means 3 made a day
7. 1 year later they will actually be on the shelves

Kel-Tec makes some really nice products, i really like my pmr30 and p3at, but they totally suck as a company. They cant produce anything, they constantly run out of either parts and have to delay production or extra magazines are hard to get. If they became a subsidary of say Ruger, or Colt, or frankly any other company out there that could handle production they would be hailed as the best company out there but as it is they do a fairly slipshod job. Heck there are still people waiting on Pmr30s and their bullpup rifle.

As for me i wont give the company money anymore, ill just buy it when i see it used.

Here's another nice shotgun.

Now that rocks! Too bad you have to be a professional Russian to get one! Anybody know how much they cost?

Oh man.... heck with the KelTec, I WANT one of these AA12's! No, make that two... one for each hand!

Full auto guns usually cost a whole lot so my guess is in the several thousands range but to be honest ive never priced one out.

reloading quickly sucks on this gun I would think. I've never seen anyone reload it quickly as in a 3 gun comp. I like my 590 better but thats just me and I dont have the extra money for this gun at this time.

not only do you need a class 3 tax stamp but the price is quite expensive. I dont even know anyone which stocks this gun. awesome gun but being full auto prices it out for most people, espeically if you live in a commie state like cali!

Oh, I wouldn't be getting one (unless I hit the Lotto), just curiousity. You know a full auto shotgun built to combat standards (he didn't even wait for the water to clear the barrel before he opened up) has to be expensive - I just wondered how expensive.

I liked that they didn't go overboard with the rate of fire and how well they controlled the recoil. That thing actually looks real-world useable.

Think "Name that tune" I can clear that room in ...

McClure-Volkmer stopped all production of new full-auto's for sale to civilians.

HK MP-5's run ~18K-20K, Uzi SMG's ~$6K-7K, M-16's ~$12K-22K. Prices vary due to fixed supply, high demand, and different features or collectability.

Bulpup designs by nature distribute the weight a lot more evenly than normal configurations. The action is behind the trigger.

And they also put the action right by the shooters face. Thats not where I want a controlled explosion in a shotgun made of plastic and aluminum. If it were hardened steel I'd still be uneasy but less so. Yeah I know kabooms are lottery rare, but I can stand to wager a finger or two. A head not so much.

as in manufactured before 1986, they were relatively cheap(autos) before then. so unless you are a dealer or manufacturer, you're not getting one of the auto shotguns.
I'm not positive but i think if you live in canada you can get one, just like buying any other gun once you jump through the hoops.

The holy grail of skatterguns for mall ninjas! I see the ballistic equivalent of tanto blades, partial serrations, and brass-knuckle finger guards. I'd bet my house that you'll NEVER see a professional lawman or soldier ever carrying one of these on duty. I like it when companies innovate, but don't confuse something new and different with something of value. Sometimes they are the same, but often they are not.

I'm pretty sure this one is in the later category.

just another design thatd probably be better off if it was manufactured by someone else. i'll stick with my 870's...i know i can count on them.

Screw the KSG, I want one of these!!!
