Ken Erickson "Hunter"

Exceptional knife Ken! The details make it pocketable/usable, and nice to look at. Judging from that nice old wheelgun next to it (a decidedly different image than the flowers, thereby saving Blues' honor;)), the size is perfect for carrying around, yet doing some serious work. I can't wait to own a knife with some of your hand-jigged bone.

Very nice!
If you don't mind me asking, how much?

Jim,

Those kinds of questions are best handled directly with the maker if you are so inclined and are not normally a topic for these threads.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments and support. I'll post some impressions when the knife finally arrives.

(Looks like the postal website hasn't updated for a day or so (per usual ) so I don't know if today or tomorrow may be the lucky day. Oh well, gives me something to look forward to.)

They shouldn't call USPS Tracking and Confirmation "tracking" because....well...IT AIN'T THAT. They should call it, Eerie Silence Before We Say It Arrives. :D I hope it ARRIVES safely.

Kerry, yep, I remember us going through exactly that same eerie silence before your beauty (my avatar knife) finally showed up safe and sound.

Well, the Post Office did me right today and delivered Ken's "Hunter" right to the door.

Not much to say about this knife except that it is 3.5 ounces of pure joy!

Ken really did some fine work on this one and has proven (to me at least) that his workmanship is right up there with some of the big boys. (Many of you already know this.)

All the standard superlatives apply regarding fit and finish, half stops, backspring/liner/tang orientation and quality of finished edge. The images above tell you all you need to know about the jigging and aesthetics of the overall knife. The spring tension is perfect and the fit in hand is flawless (for me).

I hadn't thought about this before today, but after fondling the knife just a little I thought that it looked like a rather nice companion piece to a knife made by another maker of some repute...

Shades of things to come? Who knows?...

...I'm just sayin'...

yowza... now that is the way to start a weekend .

Very classy yet very usable. Yup , Ken is certainly a major player in this game.

And that whole WI area is looking pretty darn good for slip makers right now .

Thank you, John. I hope to have something to share from another WI maker in a few short months but that's for another time and another thread.

Oh no! I never noticed but Ken is only a few miles from me. I'm in Stevens Point. He just moved up on my list. :)

You won't be disappointed, Bill.

Beautiful knife there!:thumbup:I always thought a reduced size folding hunter would make a wonderful knife, and it appears it very much has. I would love to have one of those, with the more traditional "skinner" secondary blade style, but I'd bet out of my reach for quite some time. :o Congratulations to the owner AND the maker of such a fine piece of cutlery. :)

Glad the knife finally arrived.
I'd say it was worth waiting for.

I see it was time for a new avatar Blues?!

Peter

Thanks, guys and gals.

Yeah, I felt compelled to change the avatar as we can't let Kerry's head swell any larger (until he has more knives to insert in there to give him that authentic porcupine look we've come to know and love. ;))

I think I'm going to start rotating it on a regular basis to give a variety of knives a day or two in the sun.

Randy, I thought you'd like it juxtaposed with Reese's knife, and hey, I actually took that picture. ;)

Ken is making a very good looking knife though...much deserving of avatar status.:cool:
