Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

All of it is magnificent, but I'm particularly taken by the bolsters and handle-slabs. That kind of detail and interpretation would have found favour with the masters back in Sheffield of yesteryear.

Regards, Will

As I said elsewhere, WOW! That is awesome!

I am in Tofino, BC. Right at the end of the highway, surrounded by all the beauty nature provides!
But man what a knife!!
Beautiful execution, Ken! That has to be a new pinnacle of "working-knife" detail combined with functionality! The ultimate FJ!!
Great work, and a super commission, Lyle!

Ken I can see you hunched over your workbench with your checkering file painstakingly filing each set of grooves. Congratulations on a thing of beauty.

Also, the fit of those blades- it looks like there's but a hair's breadth between them!

I just got my internet back. What a sight to behold.A classic work.

I think this is your Sistine Chapel ,Michelangelo. I absolutely love it and thanks for absorbing my vision and making it a reality. The bolsters look great. The small bar shield is elegant ,but not overstated. The blades, the swedges, jimping, flat blades, catch bit,oh those bolsters, coining, checkered elephant stuff.

A king's knife for a pauper,this must be a fairy tale.

Thank you Charlie :pride: for helping me have Ken make my pattern.

Go mail,go.

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments! I had a great time working with Lyle on this knife. When he first mentioned to me about possibly checkering the ivory covers I stopped pretty much dead in my tracks. Lyle was gracious and let me chew on it for a few days/weeks while I "came around":) to the idea, lol. Now that the knife is completed I am really happy that Lyle had the faith in me, and the vision.

You have truly outdone yourself, one of the finest examples of cutlery sculpture I have ever seen, WONDERFUL!

what a great looking knife Ken . I was wondering if you could explain how you locate the pivot hole once you have the blade and spring roughed out . I hope the question isn't out of line , if it is please ignore it . Thanks for all the great videos .
