Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

Glad you like it Mike and Joe. And that you got to CE and CF it!
Pictures pale by comparison!

Joe I keep looking for my name but all I see are fingerprints!:D

Fantastic knife Charlie, love those threads!! Congrats!!!

Eric

I just wish I could have seen Charlie when he opened this beauty. Now we just have to wait a while until Steven gets better and reports in on his. ;)

I also hear rumors of a certain friend a little south of me who has is eyeball on a certainly stunning 1/2 congress.

Missed ya Charlie.

Thanks for the cutler's complement, Eric! Hard to keep them perfectly parallel. And thanks for the Kudos, Trand and Tony. Ken's work is outa sight!!

Missed you too, Gus. And all the good guys and Hos I met at my one trip to Blade. That has to happen again in this lifetime!!

Great knife Charlie. Ken did a great job. You gotta love those old
Remington patterns, They're just hard to beat. Congrats. I enjoyed checking it out
at the show..

Jason

It's great that so many people got to check out this knife, Jason - it's too beautiful to keep in hiding!
And it saves me a lot of postage, sending it out for CF and CE sessions!:D

3 3/4". Ken put a lot of extra effort into this knife: pinched bolsters which also have rat tail and threaded grooves, as do the caps, side liners fileworked on both edges, drawn swages on both blades, inlaid gimp(?) shield. This is one of Ken's earliest folders, beautiful and lovingly made with smooth action and half stops, it portends awards and recognition to come.

Oh My, Roland! That is HANDSOME!

Congrats on that one for sure!

Roland,

Glad you received that one in good condition! It is always interesting for me to look back on early work. Thanks for the kind words and posting it here.

Very nice WEJ Roland, and Ken. And, an important milestone on the road to "Best Folder" awards!!;)

Charlie what is "WEJ" ? "something" English Jack.
"English Jack" is what Ken called it when he made it. Strictly speaking it does not quite fit the accepted definition of EJ, whose minimum length is 4" and would not have a Wharncliffe secondary.
roland

Congratulations, Roland! That's a neat one. I have a 2010 whittler, recently acquired a 2009 whittler and have a 201X sowbelly on order. It would be neat to have one from every year... since 2006(?).

Wharncliffe English Jack, or "Wedgie". . . . .oh no, that was something else . . . .from high school, I believe.:D
Sorry for the lapse into acronymism. I will try and speak/write English, Jack . . . errr. . . . I mean Roland.

Jake, it would be a nice Erickson history, to have one from every year!
Are your knives posted in this thread?

Roland,
Your very much correct in that the length and Wharncliffe secondary precludes this knife from fitting the English Jack definition. When I built that knife I was certainly in my infancy , not only as a maker, but student of these marvelous patterns. Again, glad you like the knife, and thanks for posting it here!

Ken congrats on Coop's pic of your big Coke Bottle in knife world.
Ken

Thanks guys for the congrats on the KW picture. Coop did great work on the picture.
