Ken Erickson To The Rescue...

I am pretty hooked on Ivory, but, the stag looks awesome. Great work as usual Ken E.

Taking out that Ivory knife to see it cracked like that, musta shocked the $hit outta you Elliott !
Nice stag redo,though.
Great knives Ken!

Elliott, I think the knife looks even better now - that stag gives it more "personality".

I have a hard time thinking anything is any classier, or better looking than Ivory, but I believe that knife looks better with the Stag. Nice redo Ken

I was thinking gutta-percha! :p

Then you would have a 'guttie' folder. No more cracks! ;)

That ivory thing is a bummer. I haven't had problems myself, but sure hate to see it when it happens.

Ken did an awesome job, and I love the new look. Wouldn't expect anything else out of him. Good team work, guys.

Elliot, what a transformation on that knife  ...My personal opinion is that Ivory only when very, very well aged is nice...until then...I can take it or leave it...its a temperamental damn material to use because of its cracking.
But look at what that Stag has done!! wow...that is one huge improvement...what a great before and after

Not to berate the knife in its original state, but it looks incredible now with the new scales and shield...

That's the problem with setting ivory transverse like that, but, Ken did a great job rehafting and I like the stag better.:cool:

So were carrying it as backpocket knife and hadn't shed the extra holiday pounds yet? :p

Sorry, Elliott. It was a shame about the crack in the ivory but the new stag is absolutely stunning! Kudos to Ken!

Elliott,

WOW, What a cool transformation! You should be darn happy that you are on Ken's Christmas Card list, so you can just pick up the phone and say..."Ken..I have a little problem!":rolleyes:

Ken did an outstanding job--Way to Go! :p Who knows why that ivory cracked, but now you still have a great slippy!:D;)

. . . That's the problem with setting ivory transverse like that . . .
Yup, the grain was running the wrong way.

A nice re-handling job, but I'm an ivory man, so I would have loved to
see another set of ivory scales on the knife. Nothing really comes close
to the look and feel of ivory, it is a unique material. :)

Thanks folks for all the excellent observations. I sure appreciate it.

Not to berate the knife in its original state, but it looks incredible now with the new scales and shield...

Thanks, Mike. It already had that shield but I didn't show that side as it wasn't the one with the crack (when I first sent it to Ken).

I agree with everyone that Ken did an awesome job fitting the stag and shield and making the knife look like better than new.

Elliott,

It's like getting two new knives from Ken. Not surprised that he did such a great job hooking you up.
