Wow. Oddly similar!

I sort of like to have my cake and eat it too....have both. Like the natural look of walnut, especially in a lighter grainy shade. But micarta is nice too. So, this means that for you Becker Kephart fans who only have one BK-62, you need another.
Perfect logic in my opinion.

Well
As soon as I read about these, I ordered a pair. They should be here on Monday, but I am already having a pang of buyer’s remorse. I really like the way the walnut slabs look, and I am not sure I want to lose that look.

There is only one way out of this conundrum. As soon as my income recovers from this plague, I will have to order another BK62.
you could always dye them to replicate the walnut scales.

That’s what I did...

In your opinion...do the micarta ones feel Way Harder??? Impervious?
That's one of my biggest grips with (my) knife.

The wood just seemed too soft.
Softer than any walnut I've used before......otherwise I love the looks.
I'm modifying a micarta set, for Me, latter in the year, I'm pretty certain. :)

Yes, the micarta scales feel incredibly solid. Highly recommended.

I haven't bought a micarta set for my 62 yet but the micarta for any other of my Beckers is top notch ... very solid wont mark like wood, and holds up well to a lot of use. I am torn I really liked what Warrior did to "age" his wooden scales and I do usually like the micarta ... I have been thinking of attempting to make some scales myself but so far haven't found the time to get into that. The micarta may be the answer for the short term for me.

I like how with wood, the knife shows more character. Every blemish is unique. Every nick, bump, and gouge is time youve put into it.

Its nice to have the micarta so you dont need to worry about being careful with it. If you get a crack or anything worse theres always the micarta to put on them. Or if you want to keep the knife looking pristine, the micarta is a good choice. Also, if this is your only knife in the woods or if you plan to have this for survival, then id recommend going with the micarta before you get into a situation.
