Kerry Hampton Knives

This is a new knife, a prototype that I am calling a "Jersey Swayback". It is a slimmer swayback that uses the Wharncliffe Trapper blade. I felt like this one just screamed to have what I like to call a "Sheffield Bolster" so I built this knife that way. Gives it an old school look, don'tchya know.:cool:

My friend....that is simply perfect.

Looks Great buddy! Nice combo, Bolster
and the Ebony does give it that "old school"
vibe. Congrats to you and the new owner. I'm sure
it will get lots of pocket time...

Kerry,

Looks great, I have one comment and it's particular to me, I would like to see a slightly higher arch on the spine of the blade

to make it easier to "purchase" or "pinch" the blade. The nail nick usually rips the you know what out of my thumb nail, I guess

I should eat more calcium! A minor observation from a concerned citizen.

You would want a swayback jack then. :)

Jason,

I have a swayback jack from Brett Dowell and the spine is the same height as the "Jersey Swayback" of Kerry's.

Read: hard for me to open and consequently I don't use the knife as much as I would like, great to open the mail!

I have found that most knife designs are to some degree individualistic and each maker modifies the shape.

I'm pretty sure Kerry's swayback has a little more arch and rides a bit higher when closed. There are some examples in this thread. Maybe we can convince Kerry to make an easy open. :)

I almost HAD to ease the handle but I didn't. It may look difficult but this one isn't too tough to open.

Looks good Kerry! Nice work and execution of design. I am sure rounding the scales as nicely as you did, helps with getting at the nail pull. I like the pull were its at, and the profile of the blade.
