Kerry Hampton Knives

Okay I know what a Arkansas Hunter is, but what is a "big Fiddleback"? Anyone willing to share a photo of one. Thanks

Tom,a "Fiddleback" is just another name, probably not used as much though, for a Coke Bottle I learned  ,this here
I like it better, seems more traditional.

Yep...Fiddle Back is the old or possibly original name for that pattern before the famous Coke bottle was ever made to contain the equally famous soft drink. (Side note: The shapely beverage container was invented and manufactured in Terre Haute.)

That knife is commonly refered to as a Beaver Tail when it is a barehead(no caps) and a Coke Bottle when it has both bolsters and caps. I recently made a 4" shadow version of that pattern and was really at a loss for what to call it. Fiddleback makes as much sense as anything as far as a name for it.

Kerry,Thanks for that info.
All this time....that beaver tail pattern,I knew it looked like a cokebottle !
That is confusing ,but I'm straightened out now  & thanks again! :)
I kinda like the barehead beavertail, better that the coke bottle, but both are interesting knives, classics!

She even look good in the dark. :p :D

But in all seriousness, way to go Kamagong! Fine execution Kerry.

Here's more images of kamagong's desk knife with the sheath.

BTW, I didn't know it until he told me....macassar ebony is known as "kamagong" in the Philippines. I personally think it's a gorgeous material for handles and it is naturally stable due to the high oil content of the wood.

She's a beaut alright. Kerry's getting pretty good at this... :D

On a more serious note, in the future I need to remember to hide my KnifeHead wares from my better half. When I got my KHnutbuster I noticed my wife chicken eye'n it whenever I used it. As soon as she saw this one, she grabbed it. I had the desk knife for less than 24 hrs before she claimed it as her own. She said it's perfect for her as she doesn't have to worry about breaking her nails.

Ha......this is the exact reason the ivory handled desk knife Kerry made for me stays at work. I know she would take it.
