Kershaw at Blade Show 2008

This does not apply to speed-safe knives, but - since 1959 - it has been illegal to posses any form of auto knife in the state of Wisconsin. this means that it's not a matter of carrying it off your own land/property/buisness property. You ( private citizen) simply may not have a auto knife in the state of Wisconsin - anywhere or anytime - period. You can't collect 'em - you can't legally own them. if found as part of a legal search - they will be seized - you may be charged.
I do not know if the federal exception for serving members of the armed forces or LE applies - if any one does know ( case law please) - please post it.

I live in a fairly small town and I can say with almost 100% certainty that the cops here wouldn't mess with ya for carrying an auto even if it were illiegal here, I don't think it is though, maybe I should find out.., screw it, it's not illegal if you dont get caught, haha!!

In the state of Missouri it is illegal to carry an auto knife. They cannot be legally sold at brick and mortar stores to anyone who is not LEO or active Military. Auto knives may be owned by others for the purpose of collecting. So you can legally own as many as you want as long as you keep them at home. That's the law in MO to the best of my knowledge.

I abide by my local laws concerning what is legal/illegal to carry (most of the time ;), I do get an urge from time to time to show off a new acquisition to some other blade fans at work ). As far as what one might find in my safe, I buy any/every knife that interests me regardless of the law.

It's one thing walking around town where you never know when you might be in a situation where you are having to turn out your pockets and could get in big trouble for having an auto. Generally not a problem for me, but you never know what is going to happen when you step outside your door. It's a whole other story when you keep them in your house. A search warrant would be needed to get at any in your house. If you have arrived at a point in your life where there is a search warrant issued for your residence, I have a feeling that automatic knives are your and the authorities least concerns.

Needless to say. After I've had a chance to handle the new Kershaw/ZT autos, if I like them I'll buy them. The only things that would keep me from obtaining one are the knives themselves.

Audiophile, this is not directed solely at you, but could we please just move on from the legal discussion and get back to the topic of this thread, which is all of th SUH-WEET new blades from Kershaw that are going to be coming our way soon.

DOH!! Can you say OD-1???!?!?! That thing looks AWESOME!!! Gimme some more Lee Williams baby! The pack rat is also a greatly named knife, since most of us here are stashing away serious quantities of Kershaw blades!!!:D And the Zings?? Well, I've finally seen something in orange G-10 that looks good enough to make me want it!

Again, audiophile, I don't mean to single you out and didn't intend to step on your toes, it was just that your post was the last one I read before deciding to ask about getting this train back on it's tracks;)

Cheers,
Jonny

Sign me up for an OD-1. That one does look sweet.

Any better pictures of the autos other than what's in this thread? I'd like a better shot at the non RAM inspired auto. Is it a button lock?

Wasn't the zing polyimide? Lemme re-check.....

Edit--yup polyimide.

D'oh!

I should have paid closer attention. The Zing is going to be a liner lock. :(

OL,

That picture is a little too dark to make out what is exactly going on. It looks as if the button is sitting in an oval cutout that is larger than the button. Is there a safety located immediately behind the button or is it an Axis-like lock/release? I haven't seen a shot of the other side of the knife yet.

I hope the autos come in an uncoated PE. Please??

And what the heck is this?!?!?

Looks like an orange zing with a bump blade!

EDIT, That's the knife RJ Martin was holding!

Yep! sharp eye there -

It's RJ Martin's own handmade Zing -
he made various blade shapes including this recurved blade.

This is the close up of the Kershaw Zing blade from the brochure -

I'll let TW elaborate, but it does work like the axis, but it has a built in safety. TW can explain how it works (i can too, but i am to tired to type it out. besides, he should have some fun :p). trust me when i say, the lock aint gonna go ANYWHERE, be it open or closed

Hey K&G,
Whoops! Who knows, I may have been thinking about one of the prototypes I saw earlier. Sorry bout that, and thanks for catchin' it before anybody else started their unnecessary drooling over orange G-10:D

The Pack Rat...it will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine! That's one sweet looking knife!

The Autos and Mr. Martin's knives look cool as well; gotta have 'em all!
