Ok, I am not sure if I am complaining or not, most likely not, but it could have been better.
I have had a "Kershaw Blur" the Tanto version for many years, I love the look, the feel, and the snappy "Lock-up" from the assisted opening.
So here is what happened to me, I understand that a pocket knife is not a "Pry-bar", but it was all I had. (Here Comes The Flaming I bet) but you know we make do with what you have, and my boss lost my multi-tool that day, we were "On-site" under a time crunch, and not a second to waste.

So here it goes..

At the time I worked for an "Event Company" , we supplied all the entertainment someone needs for an "Event" Hunting Simulators, Pool tables, Video Games, Casino, Bounce Houses, Laser Tag, just whatever you need, we were doing a gig at a really nice hotel for a "Pharmaceutical Convention", it was a big party we had lots of stuff there, I was the supervisor and in the middle of the party one of the pool tables got jammed, I unlocked the door on the side for the balls, it would not budge, the wood swelled a little, so I just needed to get something thin in there to get the door free.
I pulled out my "Blur" wedged the tip between the wood and gave it just a little "nudge". My tip broke off, I sent it back to Kershaw, hoping for a new knife or at least a new blade, nope, they just ground it down to a smaller blade, new profile. I mean at least they did something, but I think at the time I spent like $80 on the thing that was a lot for me back then, but I still carry that stumpy blade and it works fine, just a little bummed I guess.

They don't replace blades unless it was a factory mistake. If the owner of the knife brakes the blade, then you pay $10 (I believe its $10) and they will replace it for you.

So now, the blur comes with me whenever I don't think I will need to use it except for cutting (It's Purpose) and I take a Cold Steel for work, my old "Voyager Tanto"
is much stronger, not as fine and elegant, but I call it my "Last Ditch Texas Screwdriver". Lol!

I wish I would have known about the ten bucks, I would have gladly paid it, I really like that knife, still may have it replaced if they will let me.
Just used my Cold Steel today in the torrential down pour we had to break/carve corrosion off my girlfriends battery terminal on her car because it broke down.
Believe you me though, I cleaned that blade off in the break between side walk that was full of gross old oil, cigarette butts, probably urine who knows what?
But that was better than battery acid, dried it off with the rubber soul of my shoe, and I think it probably just made that blade prettier. LOL ;)

Oh they will totally let you. As long as you pay for the blade replacement they will replace it. Even if its not broken I believe

It's definitely Kershaw's fault that you broke your knife prying with it and they fixed it for you. They should have sent you a new knife! The nerve of that horrible company. C'mon man - you knew what you did was wrong. How can you bitch about how they fixed it?

Nobody had a flathead?

AntDog, I feel ya, I was wrong I know, I just need to start buying tough knives, or carry a screwdriver all the time, I know a knife can be mission specific.
I said in the OP I was maybe bitching but probably not, just so you know. BTW, I bet my shorter Kershaw is stronger with the shorter blade, pretty sure I'll find out sooner or later.
I am tough on knives, gonna prolly have to really do some research on my next purchase, are you gonna tell me as a knife carrier you have never been in a "Pinch" where all you had was your knife and you had to use it for something it was not designed for? Like a screwdriver, or a hammer?

I'm not easy on knives either. I have broken a few. I have broken a few doing the same type of dumb shit! You just gotta go "I shouldn't have done that. I'll just have to learn from my mistake and buy another one".

For example - I broke the end off a tops street scalpel prying the chain lock off my front door. It was either that or break a window. (I paid $20 for the street scalpel and a new window would have been $40) I was thinking it wouldn't break. Everything seemed to be going just fine - I was taking it nice and slow, and then SNAP! Oh well, it pulled the screws completely out and got us in the house. I still have the broken blade as evidence that knives are not meant for that. Live and learn...

I routinely use my Sere 2k to open beer bottles. I use the part on the back of the handle toward the pivot. I just put the cap between the liners and pry. It has scarred up the g10 pretty good, but I don't care. I use the big block of steel at the butt (that the clip attaches to) to hammer and pound on things all the time. Fo sho I know exactly what you mean as far as "using what you've got at the time".

Like you said AntDog, we live and we learn, the strangest part about a knife, well it is like a living thing, that little bit of pressure I put on that tip, it really was not much, well, I have had that knife for years, still have it and love it... Well, I know I have done worse to it in the past, and it just one day said.. "That's Enough" and did what it did, like it was trying to teach me a lesson or something, so odd, I have used that same blade to pull a few arrows out of trees and stuff when I got them stuck too much, field points and broadheads, but this time my Blur gave me a resounding "NO"!!!

Hahahaha! Yep - they have a way of telling you they've had enough! If you can get the blade replace by Kershaw I say give it a shot! Especially for 10 bucks! Can't beat that! Maybe keep the old blade and hang it up as a reminder... That's what I did with my street scalpel.

Maybe I can make a "Neck Knife" out of the old blade, Lol, or a shorty knife to keep in the quiver, for fine skinning duties or something.

BTW, on the butt of that knife I have some pretty deep grooves I put there trying to use the handle as a "Beer Bottle Opener", saw a friend do it with a Bic lighter thought I could do it with the handle of my knife while still not grasping the basic physics it takes to open a bottle with an edge, made 3 grooves in that handle that I would not change for the world....Memories!!! That Blur will be buried with me. :) Maybe passed down, maybe, if I ever have a kid.

i got one at walmart for 25$ because they had it under the wrong sign, broke the tip off of it within an hour and called customer service they said they will replace the blade for 10$ so i threw it in the garbage

Interesting, I wonder if this happens a lot, are the tips just weak? If so, I wonder, are the "New Blades" better?
Honestly, I put mine through some paces, but I did not expect it to snap when it did, and I had it for a while, interesting.
I have had many knives, still have many, never broke a tip, not even on cheap Chinese or Paki stuff, it really did surprise me, I have always been tough on knives, the only problems I have had before was tips getting bent on cheap throwing knives after throwing them, but I could usually just "Bang That Out" and it would be fine.

Might I ask how you broke it within the hour? Also, if you knew it was a good deal and were proud enough of the deal you got to disclose it, why didn't you chip in the 10 bucks and have em replace the blade? Instead you just pitched the blade in the trash?

Just curious....

Saw a post on ARFCOM, he says the tip will break eventually if you use it, so. "Mod" it fix the profile, it is a cool knife, may just need a little work.
