Kershaw Blur Customer Service.

Might I ask how you broke it within the hour? Also, if you knew it was a good deal and were proud enough of the deal you got to disclose it, why didn't you chip in the 10 bucks and have em replace the blade? Instead you just pitched the blade in the trash?

Just curious....

Referring to Ratsofftoya:

Can't believe I fell for this assclown troll's bullshit. Check his latest thread. Suuuure you broke the knife....off in your ass! Stabbin that poop! Stab that poop!

Saw a post on ARFCOM, he says the tip will break eventually if you use it, so. "Mod" it fix the profile, it is a cool knife, may just need a little work.

Hey as long as you're happy with it man, that's all that matters. If you're not happy with it, go ahead and send it to Kershaw with 10 bucks and see what happens. I bet they take care of ya!

Funny how the Cold Steel at 1/2 the price with inferior steel is tougher...

Which cold steel? And it is tougher than the blur? I may agree, I need specifics mang! Did you take a blur and pry with it and take a recon 1 and pry with it and the blur broke first?

Post 3 of this thread...

Oh. Well, that's just because it hasn't broke yet. Any knife being used as a "Texas screwdriver" will.... I don't think the voyager is tougher than the blur no matter how much I like cold steel's aus8. Maybe it's just cheaper and expendable?

My opinion on knives: you cut with them. You might occasionally need to scrape with them. The whole "hard use" things really bugs me. (Not saying you're talking about that Tripletap1). You're not buying a knife because of the lock strength or something like that because you're gonna hammer it into the side of a tree, you buy it for the blade. That is why I tend to stay away from Cold Steel; the only thing they can boast about is the one thing that doesn't actually make it better at being a knife. Just my opinion, though it's kind if unrelated, I thought I'd mention it.

Look. You can have a thinly bladed knife that will cut well but can't pry OR you can have a thick ass blade that can pry but not really cut worth a damn. Pick one.

I don't know why people think they can get both in one.

Lay out the $5 and put this on your keychain:

And you'll never have to worry about breaking the tip on your knife.

The tip on the tanto Blur is super fine for penetration cuts. It's probably one of the WORST blade designs for prying.

Ok, I am not sure if I am complaining or not, most likely not, but it could have been better.
I have had a "Kershaw Blur" the Tanto version for many years, I love the look, the feel, and the snappy "Lock-up" from the assisted opening.
So here is what happened to me, I understand that a pocket knife is not a "Pry-bar", but it was all I had. (Here Comes The Flaming I bet) but you know we make do with what you have, and my boss lost my multi-tool that day, we were "On-site" under a time crunch, and not a second to waste.

So here it goes..

At the time I worked for an "Event Company" , we supplied all the entertainment someone needs for an "Event" Hunting Simulators, Pool tables, Video Games, Casino, Bounce Houses, Laser Tag, just whatever you need, we were doing a gig at a really nice hotel for a "Pharmaceutical Convention", it was a big party we had lots of stuff there, I was the supervisor and in the middle of the party one of the pool tables got jammed, I unlocked the door on the side for the balls, it would not budge, the wood swelled a little, so I just needed to get something thin in there to get the door free.
I pulled out my "Blur" wedged the tip between the wood and gave it just a little "nudge". My tip broke off, I sent it back to Kershaw, hoping for a new knife or at least a new blade, nope, they just ground it down to a smaller blade, new profile. I mean at least they did something, but I think at the time I spent like $80 on the thing that was a lot for me back then, but I still carry that stumpy blade and it works fine, just a little bummed I guess.

None of this would have happened had Tripletap 1 heeded the do not use for prybar rule.....

He said his boss lost his. Hence why he needs a Gerber Shard on his keychain. Everyone should have a keychain pry bar.

Boss, schmoss. My point was, he needs to have one himself. Be less a tool-borrower (his boss lost his, well how does that help him now?), and more a tool-owner (get a SAK, they're cheap). Especially given what he does for a living. If nothing else, at least have a few hand tools in a bag somewhere.

BTW, I like that Gerber Shard. I have a CountyComm prybar somewhere, but it never found it's way onto my keychain.

He wasn't a tool borrower, he was a tool lender.

My Gerber Shard was replaced by this awesome prybar from Tobin Smith:

Ah, blame my reading comprehension. Well, shame on the boss then, for not having one of his own.

And in light of that fact, I agree that a keychain multitool/prybar would have come to the rescue. I have a SAK Classic on my keychain, and I wouldn't cry if I snapped the blade or the nailfile in that situation.

That is a fancy prybar you got there. Set ya back a penny or 2 I'll bet...

Personally, I have absolutely no doubts whatsoever that the Voyager will be significantly tougher than the Blur. Just like I have no doubts that the Blur will carry better, hold an edge for longer and freak people out a whole lot less.
