Kershaw Cryo?

I didn't get my order in with them early enough to get it out yesterday so mine shipped today too. That means Monday for me :( But I still love those HQ guys ;)

I'm planning on ordering a second to try as a manual.

BTW: I ordered yesterday and the HQ guy promised three times that it would ship that very day.

Just notified that it didn't ship until today.

No birthday gift for him!

I plan to check out the detent, and if it has enough, I will be removing the torsion bar for sure. Not a big fan of assisted knives. We'll see though. The blade may not have enough weight to flip without the bar. Mine should be here Monday.

Have you checked with kg?

Just ordered mine from him. Got shipping notice 10 mins after I sent payment 1.5 hours ago.

Yeah, I sent an email. I'll have to just sit and hope, perhaps there will be some left after the preorders go. *sigh* :(

I got mine today. I am very impressed. Here are a couple pics(keeping it in the family)

Looks great! Wow, I'm glad to see it's actually not too small. Almost the size of and XM-18 3". I thought it would be more along the lines of "tiny".

Pics clipped ... because they are right up there!

Wow, looks nice. Thanks for the comparison pics. Amazing how simple things like a frame lock and a deep carry clip makes such a difference, to me at least! Of course the price is an incredible plus! :) I'm guessing that it opens fairly "snappy" due to the size but how does it compare to the xm18-3? Thanks again.

It flips great. As fast as you come to expect with Kershaw. The frame lock is great. Nice and sharp.

Ummm, I am probably missing something but why? These are available and in stock yes?

They just came out this week in a few places. Whatever stock BladeHQ had lasted about 3.5 hours before being sold out.

Kershawguy has some too but he had some pre-orders to fill so I don't know if he'll have any left. Amazon says they'll be shipping next week.

Other places should be getting some in soon. You may be able to find one (or two) next week.

Some people pre-ordered and have been waiting since December (or longer).

Nothing updated from gpknives yet, so I ordered from Amazon as well. Guess I'll have to give one to my wife.

Looks awesome. Where is mine???
Still waiting for my shipped notification from KC.
Arrgh!

BTW, Jfoley, I like my drop-points, but that XM-18 3.5" wharnie looks like one wicked slicer.

Can you de-assist?

Yes, but you'll be left with two options:

1. You can remove the torsion bar and tighten the pivot just enough so the blade can still open by depressing the flipper and flicking your wrist. However, at this level of tightness, the blade can be opened fairly easily with light pressure on the flipper. If you decide to go this route, I'd recommend carrying the knife tip-up and retrieving it from your pocket with caution. (Keeping the blade this loose and "flickable" may be illegal in some areas.)

2. You can remove the torsion bar and tighten the pivot to the point that the knife cannot be easily opened by pressure on the flipper. At this point, you'll need to open the blade by either using the thumb stud or the flipper and thumb stud together to rotate the blade into the open position. The tradeoff of course is that you will no longer be able to flick the blade open, but it will reside much more safely in your pocket than with the previous method.

The blade will not default into the handle with either method.

Keep in mind that I've tried this with only one example of the Cryo. Yours may have better or worse luck with either method. It's my guess that most folks will find similar results.

Hope this helps!

The new torsion bar is interesting.
