Kershaw Double Cross

This is what the embossing looks like, sheath isn't glued, stitched yet, working late at my day job really cuts into my leather work!

It'll be overall probably a little darker when done, Ed, let me know if that embossing is ok, otherwise it'll be available for someone else.
Really liking my new digital camera! that's a hand held shot in ambient light, the camera has a super macro setting, works very nice!

looks quite nice, Gary.
How much of the KDC will be accessible to the hand for drawing?

What distance did you shoot the pic?
nice pic, definition and color.

Thanks Tom, it was fairly close shot, probably 3" away or less, with ambient light from the ceiling.

As to access to the KDC, from the right hand side of the sheath, the highest portion, to the top of the knife is exactly 1", good to go on gripping it and the sheath has good retention as well, glued it down tonight and will finish it up tomorrow. Will post a pic of the completed unit then.

Lighting was a wagon wheel with 40 watt bulbs at each spoke, incandesant.

Camera is a Fuji S7000, with a 6x optical zoom, 6.3meg but also has a 12meg setting, some interpolation that Fuji does.

Yep no aux lens, I have to get an adapter tube so I can put on filters and then watch out! ;) It will focus as close as .4" so that is up close and personal alright!

As most of you know, I tend to not post my work, as I feel that's a bit self serving, obviously, and don't like to do that, if others want to show off what they ended up with, that's fine, appreciate it a lot, glad to know that people like what I make. But I'm posting and hosting, these two images for a couple of reasons, one it was requested and two, it shows off my new camera which I dug up my studio strobes to see how well the camera worked with a pc cord to the flash, images were taken at a 60th at f8, hand held shots, nothing fancy, a small white lightening studio strobe with an white umbrella reflector, but the main thing is WOW I'm in heaven now, the camera works great with the strobe! hehe, this is a cool thing, Fuji S7000, since the camera only has a hot shoe, I use a pc adapter that slides into the hot shoe to go to the strobe, dandy! ;)

Gary,

The sheath is beautiful and the photos are excellent too. I like it! Your new Fuji is getting a good workout and is quite up to the task.

My Double Cross arrived on Friday and, so far, I've only needed one bandaid. Not bad...

The knife is perfect. The blades are as tight as they can be and it functions very smoothly, and is very sharp. Well worth it.

I've sent you an email for particulars.

Thanks!
Ed

I agree. The Double Cross rocks!!!! It's handy and practical enough that it could very well be the evolution of the traditional slipjoint. It's one of the handiest knives in my collection, and one of the most stylish as well. Everybody who sees or tries it, loves it.

I'd also prefer something better than AUS-6, but I won't cry or anything. My Double Cross has done a lot of whittling, and has held a very good edge. It seems that Kershaw does a hell of a job with their AUS-6.

Hey have you seen the new Flexcut brand Carvin Jack wood carving pocket knife?

It has six blades and they are all different wood carving tools and they alllock in place. Made from high carbon steel and very sharp.
First time I have seen a wood carving pocket tool like it...

Well, after a round-the-world-tour via the post office (no fault of Gary's) I received the Double Cross sheath (Thanks, Gary!) and the workmanship is second to none. It's perfect. It holds the Double Cross securely and now there's no more bulging in my pocket. I'd like to know how you did that so that it retains it so nicely!

Thanks Ed, that was worrying me why it took so long to get to you! Weirdness abounds.
As to making it fit, I plan on taking some time and documenting each step, with the new camera that will make it a little easier to do but today I sent it back to Fuji for a looksee :( hope the turn it around fast!
